NUT Understanding:

"N" = No work other than what was accomplished in class the previous class (might not
recognize if I understood the concepts presented )

"T-" =I did not complete the assignment because I had Trouble with the assignment.

"T+" = I had Trouble with the assigned work but was able to complete it.

"U-" = I Understood the work and did not feel I needed to do all the work.

“U” = I Understood most of the work and completed the entire assignment.

"U+" =I Understood and completed the entire assignment.

Please note that what you record for your understanding will not affect your percentage
grade but will be recorded by Mrs. Canil so she knows how you are doing
9.1 Solving Systems of Linear Equations by Substitution

To solve by substitution:
1) Solve for _____ variable
2) __________ into other equation
3) Isolate your variable

Ex.1

Ex.2 Two numbers add to 16. Twice the first number minus three times the second
number equals -13. What are the numbers?
9.2 Solving Systems of Linear Equations by Elimination

Some essential properties

1) multiplying both sides of a linear equation by a constant does not change its
equality
e.g.

2) adding/subtracting both sides of a linear equation by the same value does not
change its equality
e.g.

To solve using elimination:

1) make the coefficients in front of one of the variables the same through
multiplication (e.g. make both equations have a )
2) add or subtract the equations to eliminate the variable with matching
coefficients

Ex. Solve the following using elimination
