FESTIVAL DANCE MECHANICS

1. Concept or theme for performance, costume and props must depict the culture, values and
tradition of the region or locality represented;
2. Assembly time for all participants (dancers, musicians and Festival Queen Candidates) is ONE
(1) hour before the official time of the competition.
3. Each performance shall be limited to FIVE (5) MINUTES including the entrance and exit;
4. For every five (5) seconds in excess of the allowable time, a penalty of one (1) point shall be
deducted from the total score of all the judges;
5. The use of flammable materials such as pyrotechnics as part of the performance is strictly
prohibited. Props used in the performance should not exceed 10ft. in height. Contingents are
prohibited from performing dance movements that unduly endanger the safety of dancers;
6. The festival queen must be present and should take part in the dance performance. Her role
must be prominent and should be highlighted in the performance;
7. The decision of the judges shall be final and unappealable.
