1. Why does having knowledge about Privacy is so important?

- Having knowledge about privacy is so important because privacy is crucial. It offers us the
ability to select who we share our thoughts and feelings with. Privacy safeguards information
that we do not want published publicly such as health or personal finance.

2. Do you think the web increases privacy or takes away privacy?

- I think, web takes away the privacy of a certain person who has any social media account
because internet has changed how privacy is handled as a result of its broad use. The
Internet opened up hitherto untapped communication avenues, allowing us to share and
receive information swiftly across a variety of platforms. The Internet had no security or
personal identity layer built in.

3. What is the best idea to protect a personal privacy while not disrupt future innovation?
- I know we all use social media platforms and because of this, we share some of our
personal information. But the best idea to protect a personal privacy is to limit the
personal information you share on social media. Don’t overshare on social media.
Providing too much information on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram could make it easier
for cybercriminals to obtain identifying information, which could allow them to steal your
identity or to access your financial information.
4. How is privacy perceive on your course?
- In mechanical engineering, we have the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (“IMechE”)
which treats the privacy of its members, customers, and website users very seriously and
we take appropriate measures to safeguard your privacy. This policy explains how we
protect and manage any personal data you share with us and that we hold about you,
including how we collect, process, protect and share that data.

5. Identify ways in which speech can be regulated or limited in the classroom. Does this limit your
freedom of expression?
- For example, school officials may prohibit speech that substantially disrupts the school
environment or that invades the rights of others. Many courts have held that school officials
can restrict student speech that is lewd. Many state constitutions contain provisions
safeguarding free expression. But no, this doesn’t limit our freedom of expression because
they only ought to protect us.

6. Fake news is rampant on social media. How do we differ misinformation and disinformation? How
does fake news affect one’s freedom of expression?
- Misinformation is false information that one spreads because they believe it to be true.
Disinformation is false information that one spreads even though they know it to be false — they
are trying to deceive people. News spread fast and so with fake news of course and this may be a
way to destroy our beliefs and shut our freedom of expressions.

7. What is the relevance of social networking site on your course?

- Not only us mechanical engineers but to the whole engineers and technical professionals rely
on social media as an information resource to stay in touch with recent technology trends and
news in the industry. 57% of engineers use social media sites to find product reviews. Another
54% use such platforms to keep up with the latest industry news, trends, and technology.

8. Select one social networking ethical issue that you think happens more frequently? Explain why.
- Cyberbullying because kids who are bored and looking for amusement will occasionally resort
to cyberbullying to spice up their life with some excitement and drama. They may also opt to
cyberbully due to a lack of parental attention and supervision. As a result, the Internet serves
as both a source of amusement and a means of gaining attention for them.

9. What is the relevance of freedom of expression on your course?

- The importance of free expression in mechanical engineering, this can protect our right to
express our ideas and beliefs in the way that we see fit. The right to free expression protects
what we say, what we write, and how we express yourself. It safeguards our right to protest,
meet with others, and organize. According to the American Civil Liberties Union, "you
(students) have a right to express your opinions as long as you do so in a way that does
not'materially and substantially' disrupt classes or other school activities." If we hold a protest
on the school steps and block the entrance to the building, school officials can stop us. They
can also probably stop us from using language they consider "vulgar or indecent."
