“My Understanding of Troy”

From my perspective, I learned that Iliad being an epic Greek poem (Troy). I understood more
about the Trojan War, its main characters, like Hector, Paris, Achilles, Helen, King Menelaus
and so on. I learned in the Iliad, Troy, that there are people who would sacrifice anything in their
power to get what they want. It was shown when King Menelaus declared war when Paris
kidnapped his wife, Helen, because of his love for her. I also knew who my favorite character
was, which is Achilles. I took a liking to Achilles because he was the Greek’s greatest and
strongest warrior. He was a very bold, confident, strong, and handsome warrior. That is why I
took a liking to Achilles. Next to Achilles is Paris. I liked Paris because we can see in him the
difference between “working hard” and “working smart”. Paris is a very loving character in the
Iliad, risking everything for the love of his life, Helen. People would see him as a coward but I
see him as a smart warrior. He is the one responsible for killing the strongest character in the
Iliad. He shot Achilles in the heel killing him. He was smart, he could’ve fought Achilles hand to
hand but knew that he’d lose so instead shot him with a bow and arrow. And that was pretty
much it, I really enjoyed the movie, “Troy”, so I didn’t really have much to say about it. The
actress and actors in the movies did an amazing job portraying their own characters. Especially,
Brad Pitt, who played Achilles. Up until now, the movie is still marked as one of the best
movies of all time and we can all see why. An afterthought of mine is that, none of this would’ve
happened if Aphrodite didn’t cast a spell on Helen that made her fall in love with Paris. It was
very selfish of the goddess but I still like her because if it wasn’t for that, we wouldn’t have a
great movie to watch. I would definitely recommend the Iliad, “Troy” for everyone to watch
because it is really an amazing and one of the most prominent movies of all time. The movie
made me feel a lot of emotions, (sadness, anger, fear, excitement, happiness), it is rare for me to
feel a lot of emotions at once while watching a movie so it means that I really enjoyed the Iliad
and wish for everyone to watch it.
