FLAVORED WATER MANUFACTURING & PACKAGING

Flavored water is a category of beverage that is water enhanced with natural

flavors, herbs, vitamins, and/or sweeteners and generally lower in calories than
non-diet commercial soft drinks. The flavored water category of beverage continues
to grow in popularity every year and is the fastest growing segment of the still
beverage category. There are hundreds of companies producing flavored bottled
water around the world, particularly in the United States. They vary from zero
calorie organically certified beverages flavored with natural herb extracts such as
Ayala's Herbal Water to the more widely known Glaceau brands of beverages
owned by The Coca-Cola Company.

Glacéau, manufactures and distributes various lines of enhanced water. Founded in

May 1996 by J. Darius Bikoff with an electrolyte enhanced line of water called
Smartwater, the company initially distributed its products to health food stores and
independent retailers in the New York area. Adding Fruit water and Vitamin water
to its line in 1998 and 2000, respectively, the company expanded to nationwide
distribution in the early 2000s. By 2002, the Glacéau line of waters were the top
selling enhanced water brand in the United States, with the company's Vitamin
water being its best selling product. In 2006, the company earned US$350 million
in revenues. The company then began its global expansion, launching its products
in the United Kingdom and Australia in 2008 and France in 2009. As such this trend
has now spread in almost all the countries and market has been continuously

The plant and machineries in a typical 2500 liters / hour plant at the current prices
is estimated to be Rs. 3 crores. However, the total project cost will include land,
building, other fixed assets, working capital requirements towards raw materials,
utilities, consumables, recurring expenses and manpower cost. A complete financial
analysis is normally worked out for a particular client, keeping in view its specific
conditions of capacity, scheme of manufacturing, location, logistics and other local
cost factors. However, typical working indicates a handsome return on
investment and payback of capital cost within 2 years for this project.
