Scientific research

GELITA has been initiating and supporting scientific research about

the effect of special collagen peptides (FORTIGEL®) on joint
cartilage for 30 years.

In 2003 the GELITA Health Initiative (GHI) was founded to

professionally coordinate and promote all activities in the “joint
health” area.

The findings obtained from this research are disseminated to

physicians, nutritionists, patients and consumers worldwide by e.g.
Participation in international and national medical congresses
Presentation of new study results at scientific symposia
Development and distribution of information material about „Collagen
Peptides and joint health"

Pre-clinical research at the Collagen Research Institute

The Collagen Research Institute (CRI) is an

independent institute in Kiel, Germany, that
cooperates with numerous national and
international partners. Head of the CRI is
Dr. Steffen Oesser.

Main focus of the research is the examination of

the mode of action of collagen peptides as well as
the support of the clinical research for the therapy
of degenerative joint diseases.

Osteoarthritis and joint pain

What is osteoarthritis?

Degenerative joint disease with wear and tear of joint cartilage.

Slow and ongoing course of disease,

often without symptoms in the beginning.

Inflammatory process often starts later.

Patients notice pain at a later stage.

Reasons for the development of osteoarthritis

age
malnutrition (overweight)
lack of physical activity
deformations of the joints
genetic predisposition
metabolic dysfunctions
burden of sports or work

Osteoarthritis: Therapy?

Despite intensive research, there is no cure for osteoarthritis.

Analgesics and anti-inflammatory drugs only suppress the pain or the

inflammatory processes!

Because of...
increasing number of patients
the severe mental trauma
and the immense socio-economic costs

… every promising alternative to prevent

and treat osteoarthritis should be considered.

CH-Alpha® offers a solution!

CH-Alpha® Benefits

CH-Alpha® stimulates the cartilage cells (Chondrocytes) to

produce more Collagen and Proteoglycans (95% of cartilage
mass).
As a result individuals suffering from joint problems caused by the
wear and tear of joint cartilage (Osteoarthritis) benefit by an
improved quality of life
pain reduction
improved mobility
reduced need of analgesics.

In other words:
CH-Alpha® works on the cause of the problem and not only on
the symptoms like many other products.
