was a very talented Dutch footballer. Van Basten made his debut in 1982 at the age of 17 in the Dutch championship.In his short career he played for big teams like Milan, Ayax and and also played for his national team with which he won a European championship in 1988 as top scorer. During his wonderful career he collected three golden balls and in 1992 he was named FIFA word player. The results obtained are also the result of his victories with Milan where he won 3 Champions Leagues and 3 European Super Cups. However during his career Marcel Van Basten had three ankle injuries which ended his dreams. So in August 1995 he decided to retire after several operations which, also if they went well, did not allow van Basten to return to full fitness. After his retirement, the Dutch champion became a coach of Dutch team and FIFA ambassador.
