ACTIVITY SHEET 1 (PRELIM PERIOD)

General Instruction: Read carefully the question and answer what is ask.
Please write your Activity 1 in a 1 whole sheet of paper and submit your answer on or before Feb. 27, 2023

I. Identify whether the following scenarios is Business Logic or Basic Logic.

Argument: Mr. Subramaniam whose date of birth is April 5, 1965 is a post-graduate with
Commerce and has obtained 60% marks in the interview apply for Account Manager post.

Premises:
1. The candidate must be a postgraduate in Commerce. - Basic Logic
2. The candidate must have completed 21 years and should not be more than 35 years as on July
31,1996. - Business Logic
3. If the candidate does not satisfy the criterion in (1) above but has completed his CA examination he will
referred to Director- Finance, who can allow the candidate to appear in the interview if otherwise
eligible. - Business Logic
4. If the candidate fulfils all the criteria mentioned in (1) and (2) above, he/she will be called for group
discussion. - basic logic
5. The candidate must get 50% marks to qualify in the group discussion. - Business logic
6. If the candidate qualifies in the group discussion, he/she will be called for interview. - Business Logic
7. The candidate must get 30% marks in the interview (out of 50) to get finally selected. - Basic Logic
Conclusion: Mr. Subramanian is accepted. 

Argument: Mr. Roy is a Commerce graduate, has passed his CA examination and was born on April
18,1974 applying for Account Manager post.

Conclusion: Ms. A application is rejected. 

Argument: If David Hume was a bachelor, then he was unmarried.


Premise:
16. David Hume was a bachelor. -Basic Logic
Conclusion: Therefore, David Hume was unmarried. Basic Logic

Argument: If Bob climbed up the police radio tower then he would have been arrested.
Premise:
17. It is not the case that Bob was arrested.
Conclusion: Therefore, it is not the case that Bob climbed up the police radio tower. basic logic

Argument: All businesses are for profit.


Premise:
18. ABC Company is a business. - Basic Logic
Conclusion: ABC Company is for profit. - basic logic

II. Write out two arguments you have encountered in the course of your day. First write them as
you encountered them, then re-write in the format you practiced in the activity above. Make
sure they are arguments, with premises and conclusions. You'll get more practice

sure there is a conclusion and at least one premise and you'll do fine. (10 points each.)

1. Argument: If I have recited during my class then I would have a high grades.
Premise: It is not the case that I have not recited..
2. Argument: if I have attended my class then I would have answered my exam.
Premises: I have not a attended my classes.
