CORE DUTIES FOR LIVESTOCK PROCUREMENT OFFICER: BULAWAYO ABATTOIR

1. Liaison communication with cattle farmers, producers, cattle traders on producer prices and
T&Cs
2. Liaison with other abattoirs on movement of cattle and slaughters
3. Marketing services of Grills Group of Companies T/A Bulawayo Abattoirs, Dunstal Feedlot and
Beefies to attract prospective customers
4. Procurement of cattle for slaughters, wiener and feeder steers, goats and sheep
5. Grading of cattle brought by cattle farmers and traders into the abattoir every morning
6. Printing and distribution of Grading and Slaughter Sheets to cattle farmers and traders
7. Collation and collection of cattle farmers’ and traders’ banking details, mobile money transfer
details and preferred mode of payment
8. Verification of identification particulars for cattle farmers and traders
9. Maintaining and managing Cattle farmers’ and traders’ information database
10. Marketing of cattle slaughter insurance to cattle farmers and traders
11. Payment of cash pay-out to cattle farmers and traders
12. Distribution of cattle procurement invoices and receipts to cattle farmers and traders
13. Reconciliation of Receipts, Petty-C ash-Vouchers and Cash-at-hand at the end of each working
day
14. Reconciliation of total abattoir slaughters at the end of each working day (Beef Returns Chat)
15. Availing Proof of Payment to cattle farmers and traders of their payments to themselves and
third parties as per their instructions, if so required
16. Invoicing slaughters for traders and cattle farmers
17. Invoicing live-buys for feeder steers
18. Invoicing and receipting of cattle by-products i.e. tallow, meat & bone meal (carcass meal),
hides, horns etc.
19. Invoicing and receipting other services at Bulawayo Abattoirs such as Service Slaughter Fees,
Weighbridge etc.
20. Distribution of pay-slips to Grade W and C employees
21. Doing First Aid on minor injuries and giving tablets for minor ailments to employees
22. Making sure that the First Aid Kit is fully stocked and supplies are well replenished in the First
Aid Kit
23. Printing of grading sheets for Meat Graders
24. Verification of monthly slaughters with the Department of Veterinary Services for Grading and
Inspection Fees
