Title of the book(s): The Maze Runner series

Genre: Action, Science Fiction, Thriller, Mystery.

One of the most popular books turned to a film(s) that I was lucky to read and watch is
the, The Maze Runner. It was written by James Dashner, it has 5 books in total and 3 of them are
already turned into movies. The 5 books (in order): The Maze Runner, The Scorch Trials, The
Death Cure, The Kill Order, The Fever Code. The story is set in a post-apocalyptic world where
solar flares has laid waste on the entire planet, it caused drastic changes to the world’s
climate/habitat. Earthquakes, flashfloods, storm and tsunamis (on the fourth book, it is said that
these calamities happened), it also resulted into a rise of a deadly virus spreading through the
whole world, the Flare. Thomas (the main protagonist), a boy that was took by WICKED (World
In Catastrophe: Killzone Department) from her mother who was infected with Flare. They
renamed him Thomas (Stephen was his original name) after the world-renowned scientist
Thomas Edison. At the beginning of the story a teenage boy (Thomas) is stuck on what seems of
a huge box with food and some equipment also inside, he can’t remember anything but his own
name, he can’t remember how he got there, everything but his name. The box suddenly
opened, the light blinding him, he got out of the box with the help of a group of boys that calls
themselves as Gladers. They show them to a place called the Glade, it is a massive place that is
surrounded with walls, the Gladers tell them that outside those walls are corridors, they are
inside a labyrinth, a maze. All of them lost their memories, all but their names, it’s like, whoever
put them inside the maze, doesn’t want them to remember anything. As time goes by, he slowly
adapted to the living there on Glade, inside the maze, he gained friends like Chuck, Newt, Alby,
Minho and Frypan. Every month, The Box sends supplies to the glade, it also sends a new boy, a
Greenie as they call them. But, one day, something unusual happens, not just The Box is arriving
early, but when it opened, there was a girl inside, the girl was familiar to Thomas, inside the
girl’s hand, a letter was in it containing the message “She’s the last one ever”. Thomas becomes
an object of reverence, suspicion, and great curiosity to the Gladers due to his ties to all of the
strange happenings in the Glade, fueled greatly after he becomes the first to survive a night
inside the Maze. Together with new friends, such as Chuck (the second-newest newbie), Newt
(second in command of the Gladers), and Minho (Keeper of the Runners), he begins to solve the
mystery of the Maze and search for a way out. Thomas leads his group to make it out of the
maze and find a way back home and defeat WICKED. The Maze Runner series will keep you on
the top of your heels. Overall, “The Maze Runner” stands to be a top-quality post-apocalyptic
teen-novel, making for an engaging read. The story sheds light on the natural instincts of teens
under true isolation. In doing so, it echoes a number of themes which leave readers to draw
meaningful questions about life, nature, and the purpose of humanity.
