Among all the hazards present in the work area, fire and explosion due to electricity is a significant one. More than
75% of the fires in the industrial, commercial and domes c fronts are caused by electricity. Fire and electricity are
like two sides of a coin. And that is why we must be concerned with two streams – Electricity and Fire.

Our goal shall be to provide safe and healthy working condi ons for all in the workplace and beyond. Hence,
control and Mi ga on of electrical fire, electrical arc-flash and iden fica on of hazardous areas shall be one of
our major focus areas. Mi ga ng and preven ng a fire caused by electricity, commonly known as ‘Electrical Fire’,
consists of four elements – Awareness, Causes, Tes ng and Safety.

The en re curriculum has been designed keeping this goal in mind. As a result, this Technical Training Program
starts with the understanding of electrical safety; igni on, arc-flash Hazards & Risks in low, medium and high
voltage installa ons; followed by Hazard Area Classifica on for installing Electrical Equipment, Instruments and
wiring in the Hazardous Area, fire philosophy; tes ng of electrical installa on from the point of view of fire; and
preven on & mi ga on of fire.

The course will be helpful to the Plant & Factory Managers, Electrical Engineers, Fire & Safety Professionals,
Project Engineers, and Process persons engaged in Commercial & Industrial set ups, Petro-chemicals,
Chemicals, Pharmaceu cals, Fer lizer, Power Plant, Process Industries, Mining, Manufacturing & Engineering
and/or any other large/medium industry handling flammable materials and electrical systems. The program
will be useful even to the Planning, Design, Erec on & Project Engineers engaged in Complex Work Sites.
