Research Proposal Climate Change
Summary
Climate change is one of the calamities that gets worse as time goes on, always
changing our weather, temperature, and melting of our polar region is one of its
massive effects. With these drastic effects just around the corner, that’s when we
got the idea of making our project, entitled PatrolMATE, a robot patrol car that can
navigate around easily, detect the temperature and humidity in the air, check for
darkness or lightness of the environment, and also have the ability to notify people
In the current situation, climate change has been one of the most discussed
issues in our world. This problem causes changes in weather into extreme weather
patterns which can negatively harm our environment and as well as our health. It
affects our environment in a way that it can cause more frequent storms, heat
waves, rising in sea level, melting of glaciers and warmer seaoceans. On the other
hand, this affects our health in a way that it can cause extreme and dangerous
heat wave waves and storms, which is what we are facing right now.
classrooms. Because of this, schools are now forced to cancel face-to-face classes
and implement a half-day session and imposed a modular distance learning (MDL)
for students due to extreme heat during the summer months. That's why we
conducted this project, namely PatrolMAN, to help the schools assess this problem
LDR sensor module, ultrasonic module, servo motor which will controls the
movement of the ultrasonic module, DC Motors, Tank crawler chassis wheels which
enable the project to climb and up the stairs, and an Arduino uno which will act as
the brain that will control the functioning of the components mentioned above. This
project is manually controlled using the IoT NodeMCU which enables the project to
have a wireless connection or connectivity, making the patrol robot an efficient and
Furthermore, this project will benefit the following; first, the schools, as they
will have a robot companion that can monitor the weather conditions and can warn
them in case something will happen. Secondly, teachers and students, this project
can help them secure their safety. And lastly, future researchers, as this project,
that climate change is giving inside the school areas and even for the students, and
school staff like the teachers. Climate change is causing us a lot of problems,
especially inside the school where students really feel the intense effect of this and
that’s why we thought about Project PatrolMATE. Our project can help in sort of
ways.
First off, our Project PatrolMATE can detect the current temperature
during a specific time. This project can tell whether it’s cold or hot and then alert
the people or to be specific the students and the school staff inside the school if the
current temperature is safe or not safe. Moreover, it can also help detect the
connected to a DHT11 Sensor which gives the data about the detected temperature
and the humidity of the air around the robots’ surroundings. The LCD Monitor will
help the data to be seen or recognized by the students or school staff that want to
Our project PatrolMATE does not only detect the temperature and humidity
but also detects or measures the presence or how intense the light in the sky. This
will be a help because it can help check if it’s going to rain by detecting how bright
This project will be manually controlled and will be live streaming through
the connection of a smartphone to see where the robot needs to go. The Ultrasonic
Module will be associated with the Servo Motor that will enable the Ultrasonic
module to move directions. Also for the connection, Iot NodeMCU will be used for

smartphone which is connected to the IoT NodeMCU, then the other parts that is
necessary for this project is connected to the Arduino Uno that is the main system
of the bot.
