THE ORIGIN OF THE FORMATION OF THE SEA ISLAND KINGDOM

Once upon a time there lived a Datu named Datu Mabrur. It is said that Datu
Mabrur meditated in the middle of the sea to ask the God for an island for his children
and grandchildren to live in.
After passing through several obstacles in his asceticism, finally Datu Mabrur
was given an island by the God through the intermediary of the Swordfish which is now
the symbol of Kotabaru.
The island was named Sabak Halimun Island, on this island Datu Mabrur lived.
Then Datu Mabrur ordered his son Datu Belang Ilat to be the tumenggung to organize
the government on Sabak Halimun Island.
'' O my son Datu Belang Ilat I order you to be the tumenggung on this island! ''
said Datu Mabrur.
''Okay father I will carry out your orders well! '' answered Datu Belang Ilat.
Once upon a time there was a Chinese merchant who reported to the King of
the Kingdom of Banjar that his boat ran aground on an island that was not visible but
the sound of human activity could be heard. Hearing this, the King of Banjar was
escorted by Chinese merchants to find out the mystery of the island.
When the King of Banjar arrived at his destination the King did not see an
island, then the King prayed and worship so that a beautiful island appeared. After that
the King of Banjar met Tumenggung who led the Sabak Halimun Island to introduce
himself, that he was the King of the Banjar Kingdom which was an Islamic Kingdom.
After introducing himself, the Tumenggung was interested in the policies and manners
of the King of Banjar, so he decided to embrace Islam and become sovereign with the
Banjar kingdom. And changed from Sabak Halimun Island to Sea Island.
Elsewhere, there was a struggle for the throne in the Kingdom of Kayu Tangi
which caused Prince Amir to flee to the southeast coast of Kalimantan. Here he built a
kingdom called the Kusan Kingdom, and became the King of Kusan I, after he died he
was replaced by Prince Musa, the younger brother of Sultan Adam Kayu Tangi, who was
given the title of King Kusan II. When King Kusan II died, he was succeeded by his son
Prince Napis and was given the title King Kusan III.
Prince Napis died and was replaced by his son Pangeran Jaya Sumitra who had
the title King Kusan IV. King Kusan IV moved the center of the kingdom to Sea Island.
After being transferred he built his kingdom on Sea Island which is now known as the
Sea Island Kingdom. The last king of the Sea Island kingdom was held by Prince
Aminullah.
