Customer profile and project information

The energy management system used by the chipboard panel manufacturer Pfleiderer enables the company to
accurately trace the energy it uses to the various parts of its manufacturing process.

Challenges

The goal is to precisely calculate energy consumption per cubic meter of chipboard and be proactive about
minimizing it. With differing line structures and up to 15 product changes per day and per line, that’s a challenge.

Solution

With Simatic measuring system, display, data preparation, and automation all form a cohesive system. There is a
connection between energy consumption and production data. The process display system Simatic WinCC is the
platform for all current and future analyses of energy and production data. Potential for improvement can be find and
put into practice.
Customer benefits

• Integration of measurement points into the automation system is very easy.

• The transparency gained in energy flows means finding new potential for improvement and putting it into
practice.

• A great thing about the Simatic process display system is its flexibility, which enables to generate the
appropriate type of display for each target group with little effort.

• The numerous measuring points deliver a massive volume of data. The trend is toward coordinating
production and energy procurement with continually greater precision.
