Checklist

3 STEPS TO PREVENTING
COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT
Go through this checklist before you use someone else's work and you'll be less
likely to infringe on their rights.

Step 1: Get the artist's permission

▢ Check the artwork for watermarks if you're unsure who the artist is
▢ Ask the artist for permission on their social media accounts and receive it
▢ Note: if you don't get permission from the artist, don't use it or post it online.

Step 2: Give credit where credit is due

▢ Credit the artist for the original work
▢ Link back to the original image in the artist's gallery
▢ Show them your finished piece & offer to delete the artwork if they feel
uncomfortable about it

Step 3: Check the license & Terms of Use

▢ Read the license and terms of use of any 'free image' you want to use
▢ The image is in the public domain or I have the right (creative commons)
license for what I want to do
▢ Keep a copy of the license to prevent issues

If something goes wrong...

Amend your mistake and apologize to the artist, or to whomever you might
have inconvenienced. People will forgive your mishap if you show them you
want to make things right!
