M3 PRE-TASK 1 – “Every Person is a Diamond”

Submitted by: Mary Jules Bañares | BSN 1A

1) Compare contrast man from diamond. Cite at least 5 similarities and differences between man and diamond
found in the story by using a table or a diagram. (10 pts)

SIMILARITIES DIFFERENCES
Everyone has a divine neshama, and a pure soul. Diamonds are much older than man because they exist as
(Regardless of behavior and outward appearance) old as the universe.
Just like a diamond’s characteristics, a man is just as tough A diamond can only be cut by a diamond, while a soul can
as a diamond in existence. be reached by another soul.
Both a diamond and a soul have its own distinct personality. A soul (even if it is only soul “dust”) can reach and touch
another soul.
Both a diamond and a man are unconquerable. A diamond cannot touch any ethereal spirit unlike the soul
of a man.
Both go through the same process. Diamonds can be cut and shaped while a soul cannot.

2) Enumerate five (5) life lessons you can derive from diamonds.

“Only a trained eye can appreciate the true value of a diamond. The naked eye is unable to discern the
diamond’s worth—its cut, carats, clarity and color.”
- Diamonds can be seen from the Earth’s core specifically, deep in the soil. So whenever someone threatens to
get or mine one, it will take them time before it can be sold to different people. Just like the process of getting
diamonds, we can’t also seem to see our true beauty unless someone in our life appoints it.

“When you’re counting diamonds, you don’t get tired.”

- People are just like diamonds, but it will take time to find and really know them. If you really like a person, you
don’t get tired of finding one. You must undergo certain circumstances because the best ones are the ones
you don’t always get it easily.

“Regardless of externals, every person is a true diamond, the toughest substance in existence.”

- As humans, we are often misjudged by people. Some will say that even though someone is good looking,
he/she still has a bad side and vice versa. Every person has a different physical appearance but that doesn’t
mean that he/she may be or may not be a bad person. Just like a diamond grasped from the Earth’s core
where it is mostly covered in mud and soil, when cleaned and appreciated by its true beauty, that’s where you
realize that some things take time for it to be appreciated, by only those who wait.

“More than 20 tons of Kimberlite must be processed in order to procure one diamond.”

- Diamonds are considered one of the strongest and hardest minerals that’s made under pressure under the
Earth’s core. Just like a diamond, in order to become strong, we must all face different obstacles and even
face the hard way because that’s the only way for us to become immune until we learn to ourselves the art of
being strong despite facing more hardships along the way.

“Among the diamond’s unique qualities is that it is the hardest of all known substances.”

- As we grow old, we tend to learn and adapt to our surroundings, people, and even behavior. Change is
inevitable. We can’t avoid that because we are capable to it. But despite the changing, this will mold us into
better people in order to become stronger to face another set of hardships and when we surpass that, that’s
what makes us brave and strong, like a diamond.
