Script The First Fyre Part 2
Script The First Fyre Part 2
Written By
Helena White
A week has passed, and the narrow path the four are
clambering through starts to make its slow descent. They are
reaching the end of the Mountain range at it's Western point.
ALASTAIR
Wait here. Ember, come with me.
LUKAS
Why are you avoiding me?
IZABEL
(Annoyed) Is this really the best time
for this conversation?
LUKAS
But why-
IZABEL
We have enough to focus on rather than
debate what happened the other night-
LUKAS
So when is the right time to talk
about it?
LUKAS gets even closer to IZABEL, and for a moment she closes
her eyes and takes a shaky breath. Before she can reply
however, EMBER suddenly reappears, out of breath and
panicked.
IZABEL
What is it now?
EMBER
I think it's best if you see it
yourself.

SCENE 43 - PORT TAHOE
EXT. PORT TAHOE - MIDDAY
________________________
LUKAS and IZABEL hurry after EMBER, the descent becoming ever
steeper. The Northern Plains open up beneath them, the River
Calder running through them and heading West. Port Tahoe lies
at the bottom of the mountain, the river running directly
through it. The three of them hurry as they see the black
plumes of smoke rising from the small village.
IZABEL
The Ancients have already made it this
far...
LUKAS
(Scanning the shadows of the town) Are
they still here though?
ALASTAIR
They came during the night. Traders
that usually stay here for the markets
are trying to leave, most of them
LUKAS
Did they tell you where the Ancients
went.
ALASTAIR
He wasn't sure. We better get to the
Port now, and get transport to
Ivorfjord. I don't want to get stuck
here overnight.
They reach the Port at the end of the street of houses, where
the river opens up into a lake. Roughly made jetties border
either side of the lake, but many of the boats have already
left the village. ALASTAIR makes his way over to a nearby
boat hirer, and leave the others in awkward silence at the
edge of the village.
IZABEL
(Gently) Are you okay?
The GIRL shivers despite the warm air. Dirt smudges her
cheeks, and flinches at IZABEL's voice. The GIRL mumbles
something between her fingers, which are in her mouth as she
chews her nails.
IZABEL
(Not understanding the mutters) Hey
hey - it's all okay. What are you
trying to say?
GIRL
They went up the mountain. They're
still here. They went up the mountain,
they're still here-
IZABEL sees the blank eyes of the GIRL who keeps repeating
those words, and feels a cold chill come over her. LUKAS
snaps around to them, sensing IZABEL's dread.
LUKAS
(Shouting out to ALASTAIR) Alastair!
They're still here!
ALASTAIR
Boat. Now.
The boat hirer squeaks and points to the nearest sailing ship
at the end of the jetty. It is old and has seen better days,
but it will do. ALASTAIR throws a bag of coins at the boat
hirer who takes them gratefully and runs off. ALASTAIR turns
to IZABEL, LUKAS and EMBER who all stand frozen by the
village.
ALASTAIR
Move! Get on the boat!
ALASTAIR
What are you doing! Get on the boat-
IZABEL
But there was this girl-
ALASTAIR
What girl!
IZABEL
She almost looked possessed-
ALASTAIR
Can't this wait-
IZABEL
Just LISTEN to me! She said they went
up the mountain-
ALASTAIR
(Slowly looking to the mountains) The
Western Pass...?
LUKAS
(From the boat) Alastair! We have
company!
GIRL
We have found what we have been
looking for. The One who will save us.
The One who will lead us. We have
found-
ALASTAIR
(Shoving IZABEL forward) Make sure
they leave, even if it's without me.
Go!
IZABEL bolts for the boat, and ALASTAIR backs up away from
the advancing ANCIENTS his staff glowing red. As IZABEL looks
over her shoulder just before she reaches the boat, she
screams as ALASTAIR shoots fire towards the ANCIENTS. The
flames swell hungrily to the GIRL who keeps repeating her
lines.
GIRL
We have found what we have been
looking for. The One who will save us.
The One who will lead us. We have
found-
IZABEL leaps onto the boat next to EMBER, and stops LUKAS
LUKAS
(Angrily) Izabel what are you doing!
I'm supposed to help-
IZABEL
He wants us to leave him! We have to
get to Ivorfjord Lukas-
LUKAS
I can't just leave him!
IZABEL
Yes, you can!
IZABEL wrenches LUKAS's staff out of his hands and taps his
forehead with the emerald. It glows green, and gently knocks
LUKAS unconscious. EMBER looks at the two of them in shock.
EMBER
(To IZABEL) Can you sail?
IZABEL
I-No-
DELTA
You seem to have gotten lost and ended
up on my boat.
IZABEL
Your boat? We just bought this boat-
DELTA
That idiot never owned my boat! I own
my boat!
IZABEL
Fine! It's your boat! Can you get us
out of here?
DELTA
Why should I?
EMBER
Because of that!
DELTA
Fine. But we might take a while as we
need wind to get these sail going-
EMBER
(Spluttering in confusion) What's he
doing!
IZABEL
He must have gone to warn the tribe.
The Ancients must know they killed the
wrong Chief-
DELTA
We have no wind. We can't go anywhere.
IZABEL
Is there nothing you can do?!
The first blast of the Ancients misses the boat and slams the
DELTA
Woman! You are asking me to magic up
wind-
EMBER
Wind...
EMBER
Aer.
IZABEL
Ember! EMBER!
DELTA
(Heaving) Who are you people?!
LUKAS
Who are you?
DELTA
I'm Delta. Now do I have to repeat
myself? Who the hell are you people!

RAYEN
I don't understand how this is helping
me in any way!
The NORTHERN SEER jolts awake. She glares at RAYEN and sighs
as she readjusts herself in her chair.
NORTHERN SEER
Stir.
RAYEN
I know these herbs! Awendela in my
village taught me how to use them. Why
is this necessary-
NORTHERN SEER
Tell me then! What is this used for?
What are its Aer properties?
RAYEN
Echinacea - Wait, Aer Properties?
NORTHERN SEER
(Smug) Aha! That woman did not tell
you about how some herbs can enhance
the connection we have to the Spirits.
Stir!
RAYEN
Awendela was like a mother to me. She
was the healer of the village and
taught me the best she could!
NORTHERN SEER
Do not raise your voice at me!
NORTHERN SEER
Get up, child.
NORTHERN SEER
Echinacea's plant juices can be used
to help tame wilder Aer Spirits. You
will learn to heal, understand and
fight with the Aer Spirits, and I
shall teach you the Sight. I will
teach you all I know, but you will not
question my methods. Do I make myself
clear?
RAYEN
(Swallows) Yes.
NORTHERN SEER
Good. Let us meet your first Spirit.

EXT. DELTA'S BOAT - LATE AFTERNOON

IZABEL
Finally! She's alive!
IZABEL
Hey, I got you.
EMBER
What happened?
IZABEL
The Aer Spirit you summoned blasted us
down the River Calder, knocking off
half the travel time.
EMBER
How long have I been out?
IZABEL
Five days.
EMBER
Five days!? Why didn't you wake me!
IZABEL
We tried. Nothing would wake you.
Lukas carried you to the bunk after
you collapsed into him.
EMBER
Who is she?
IZABEL
Delta, she's taking us to Ivorfjord.
DELTA
And promptly leaving you lot there.
IZABEL
(Quietly to EMBER) She wasn't to keen
on returning to the city, but wouldn't
tell us why.
DELTA
You lack the charming qualities your
friend up there has. I would've
chucked all of you off my boat if it
hadn't been for him.
DELTA
Once we get you to the city gates,
I'll smuggle you in and be on my merry
way.
IZABEL
Smuggle?
DELTA
You really like getting me to repeat
myself, don't you? Ivorfjord was
sieged by the Ancients a year ago. The
Ancients now control who enters and
leaves the city, and seeing how eager
they were to kill you I suspect you
don't want to be caught getting in the
city.
EMBER
How will you do that?
DELTA
(Smiling) How much do you like to
swim?

SCENE 47 - THE NORTHERN LOCK
EXT - THE NORTHERN LOCK OF IVORFJORD - DUSK

DELTA
You alright Dane? Don't look at me
like that! I know I owe you money, but
business is business! You'll get it by
the next full moon, and don't tell
anyone I'm here! Or I'll tell your
wife who you've been sleeping with...
As the boat sails into the lock, EMBER splutters and rises to
the surface, only to be dragged back under by IZABEL. The
guards don't notice in the darkness, laughing and shouting
back at DELTA. The boat is slowly lowered down in the lock,
and at last sails into the city.
EMBER, IZABEL and LUKAS rise to the surface gasping for air,
the guards and their torches far behind them now. DELTA helps
them back onto the boat. They are all shivering.
IZABEL
(Hushed) What now? Alastair didn't
exactly tell us what to do once we
arrived in Ivorfjord-
DELTA
You have no where to go, do you?
LUKAS
No, we don't.
DELTA
I have somewhere you can stay the
night. Help me dock and I'll take you
there. But by the morning, you are all
gone, you understand me?
The Western and Southern rivers join the harbour, but the
Eastern river's entrance is boarded up as the river bed is
dry. The Easter River runs directly down the centre of the
city.
EMBER hears the roar of the Falls, and the seagulls that
circle the three towers. Her senses are overloaded by how
impressive everything is.
DELTA
Follow me.

DELTA
This is Bourne. You are safe here

BOURNE
Go up to the ladder. Top floor. You
may sleep there.
BOURNE
I'll look after her. I've seen her

EMBER moves away from them, and falls asleep in the corner.

SCENE 50 - FLYING AND FIGHTING
EXT. OUTSIDE THE NORTHERN SEER'S CAVE - AFTERNOON
_________________________________________________
NORTHERN SEER
Notice the air around you. The
currents, the direction of each
strand. See if you can separate them
out.
RAYEN hears the whistle of the Aer Spirit, and throws her
hands out to brace her fall that is coming closer and closer.
Before she hits the ground however, the Spirit throws RAYEN
upwards and suddenly she is climbing altitude. RAYEN blinks
in the suns brightness and shivers in the coldness, seeing
with her own eyes the mountains.
NORTHERN SEER
Well done, child. You have just met
two different Aer Spirits. Now you
shall learn to fight with them.
RAYEN
(Still out of breath) Fight?
SHADI
Flying with a Spirit is one thing, but
fighting with them is another.
RAYEN
I'm going to fight...you?
NORTHERN SEER
It is the best way to learn.
RAYEN
But how do you fight with Aer!?
NORTHERN SEER
You know the behaviours of two
Spirits. Call on one of them and work
with it to defend Shadi's attack.
NORTHERN SEER
Summon your Spirits!
glowing fiercely. RAYEN reaches out with her mind and finds
the more aggressive Spirit from earlier, and feels it rush
towards her on her call. RAYEN shivers as the Spirit reaches
her, it is as cold as a mountain snow blizzard.
NORTHERN SEER
Good, Rayen! Continue.
SHADI
Use your imagination, Rayen!
RAYEN stands up again shaking, but this time ready for the
next blast of air SHADI sends towards her. Around RAYEN, her
Spirit forms a shield to deflect SHADI's Spirit, and the
bullet of air passes around her. RAYEN laughs to herself,
amazed it worked.
NORTHERN SEER
Rayen! That is enough!
RAYEN
Stop! She is not my enemy!
NORTHERN SEER
Never control the Spirits, Rayen! Work
with them so they do what you want to
do, never fight them!
RAYEN
Let her go.
RAYEN reaches for the breeze she had felt earlier, and
encourages her wild Spirit to dissipate into the breeze. The
Spirit becomes confused, wrapped up in the warm breeze. The
black clouds around SHADI slowly become clearer, showing
SHADI elevated off the ground and limp from exhaustion.
The two Spirits merge into the light breeze, and fly back
into the mountains. SHADI collapses to the ground coughing,
and RAYEN runs towards her aunt to help her up.
RAYEN
Are you okay!?
SHADI
(To the NORTHERN SEER) Why, why didn't
you stop her?
NORTHERN SEER
She needed to learn how to work with
the Spirit on her own. There is no
better way to learn something by doing
it.
SHADI
(To RAYEN) You have a lot of power,
all fuelled by your emotions. Don't
let them escape like that again.
NORTHERN SEER
Now, again!

Tea?
LUKAS
Yes, please.
BOURNE
We use seaweed here for our tea.
LUKAS
(Looking at DELTA) Does she always
drink so much?
BOURNE
(Sighs) She's been drinking more this
past year.
BOURNE
(Cont.) You're an Earth Elementalist.
LUKAS
Is that a problem?
BOURNE
No. Delta and I are the last of the
Water Elementalists. We helped smuggle
the rest out when the Ancients took
over the city. They tried to kill them
all, though some managed to escape
with our help.
DELTA
(To BOURNE) They were running from the
Ancients too.
BOURNE
(Sharply to LUKAS) Why? What did they
LUKAS
(Hesitates at first) We were part of
the last clan of the Earth Ekiya.
DELTA
(Eyes wide) You are part of the Earth
Ekiya?! We thought you had died out
when the Ancients took our city.
LUKAS
We managed to survive, until they
found our last settlement at Qadim. I
am all that is left.
LUKAS
(Quietly) We relied on your resources
to survive.
DELTA
It wasn't our fault! We had no chance
against the Ancient's magic. The Water
Spirits are trapped-
BOURNE
Delta, enough!
LUKAS
The Water Spirits are trapped? What do
you mean-
BOURNE
(Coldly) Delta has said too much. It
is time you leave.
LUKAS
If you are part of the Ekiya, then why
can't we work together, why can't you
help us-
BOURNE
Because you do not understand what has
happened here in Ivorfjord! We risk
the entire Realm if we defy the
Ancients one more time. Their
IZABEL and EMBER descend from the ladder to hear the last
part of BOURNE's raised voice. LUKAS stands up from his
chair, his staff ready in his hand.
LUKAS
Then why don't you tell us what's
wrong!
DELTA
(In a whisper, to BOURNE) You didn't.
LUKAS
Bourne, what have you done?
IZABEL
What do you mean, Lukas?
LUKAS
He's trapped us. Look how pleased he
is with himself!
BOURNE
Calm down boy. They're not after you.
DELTA
(Slowly becoming hysterical) You
didn't!
BOURNE
You knew what would happen if you
returned! Thank those three for
getting you to the city.
DELTA
You tricked me! This was all set up to
get me back here-
EMBER
What? Delta, don't be ridiculous! We
weren't a part of this at all!
LUKAS
What's going on!?
DELTA
You don't know a thing! I was in Port
Tahoe to get away from this
godforsaken city, but you just HAD to
butt in and drag me here-
BOURNE
(Bored) You're having a tantrum.
DELTA
I am not, having a tantrum!
BOURNE
General.
GENERAL
Bourne, good to see you. (To DELTA)
Princess Emlyn, you have been
requested by Queen Zarya for an
audience.
GENERAL
(To BOURNE) She wants to see you to.
BOURNE nods, and the GENERAL exits. BOURNE sighs heavily and
eyes LUKAS, IZABEL and EMBER.
BOURNE
You had better come with us after all.
The Queen could help you. Cover your
faces so the Ancients can't recognise
you.
LUKAS
How can we trust you?
BOURNE
You can't, but you have no other
choice.
BOURNE picks up his staff that has a blue gem in the top of
it.
BOURNE
I am sure my mother would love to know
how you got her daughter to return to
Ivorfjord.

SCENE 52 - RETURN OF THE SNAKE
INT. THE NORTHERN SEER'S CAVE - EARLY MORNING
_____________________________________________
Time has passed since we last saw her. RAYEN's muscles are
more defined from weeks of training with HIAMOVI, her hair is
streaked with silver from contact with the Aer Spirits, but
dark shadows linger under her eyes from exhaustion.
SHADI runs into the cave and shakes RAYEN to wake her.
SHADI's voice echoes KATERI's voice, pulling RAYEN out of her
dreams.
SHADI
Rayen, Rayen, wake!
RAYEN
(Still half asleep) No, not today. One
day of rest please-
SHADI
Rayen, you have to wake up.
RAYEN opens her eyes and sees SHADI's desperate face. Sensing
her aunts tension, RAYEN sits up and blearily looks up at
SHADI.
RAYEN
What is it?
SHADI
Hiamovi sent me. Early this morning
your tribe from down the mountain
entered Onandowaga, lead by a man
RAYEN
Chu'a? What-how-Trial of Aer?
SHADI
It's a combat challenge to become
Chief, a tradition we have kept since
the first Age. If Chu'a wins, he will
take power and kill Hiamovi.
RAYEN leaps onto her feet and starts to run out of the cave
with SHADI.
RAYEN
What!?
SHADI
Hiamovi wants you there.
_______________________
SCENE 53 - TRIAL BY AER.
INT. ONANDOWAGA'S GREAT HALL - MOMENTS LATER
____________________________________________
HIAMOVI and the NORTHERN SEER stand at the top of the hall,
silent. Everyone turns to look at the entrance as RAYEN and
SHADI burst in.
RAYEN SHADI
Stop! This is madness!
HIAMOVI
Silence! This is not your fight, for
either of you.
CHU'A
The challenge has already been made.
HIAMOVI
You have no power here yet, Chu'a. You
shall be silent, as this is not your
home. Rayen, stay out of it.
NORTHERN SEER
It is time. The two challengers for
Chief shall enter the circle, and
fight to the death. The Aer Spirits
will slowly draw the air supply from
the circle, and decide that the one
who can defeat the other without much
air is worthy of Chief. I shall be the
arbiter. Chief Hiamovi and Chu'a,
enter the circle.
HIAMOVI and CHU'A enter the chalk circle. HIAMOVI is calm and
serene, CHU'A paces his side clenching his fists. RAYEN and
SHADI back to Hiamovi's tribe to watch.
NORTHERN SEER
Begin.
HIAMOVI makes it to his feet, but both of them now feel the
effects of the Aer Spirits withdrawing their air supply. They
both take a moment to gasp in as much air as they can.
CHU'A
This, is your Chief?
RAYEN
NO!
CHU'A
Stop her!
Two of CHU'A's men run out from his tribe, and hold RAYEN by
her arms. She hasn't made it to HIAMOVI's body and she stares
at it in horror.
CHU'A
I have rightfully won the trial. You
have no right to the Chieftain
position, you never have.
RAYEN
The jaws of the Wolf will always be
stronger than the fangs of the Snake.
CHU'A scowls at her and slaps her round the face. RAYEN
recoils, looking to the floor defeated. CHU'A looks over to
the NORTHERN SEER, who is expressionless.
CHU'A
Say it, woman. I am the true leader of
both tribes!
NORHTERN SEER
Today you are Chief. I cannot say what
you will be tomorrow.
CHU'A
Take her to the cells. Take this one
with her too.
CHU'A
You shall now obey me! I will bring us
into the new Age as a power greater
than the West. Bow to me now, and a
new era shall begin!
CHU'A
(Shrieks) Bow to me!
As RAYEN and SHADI are pulled out the Great Hall. One by one,
the tribes people bend their knees to their new leader, who
stands in the centre grinning with glee.

SCENE 54 - NEW ENERGY
EXT. IVORFJORD'S HARBOUR - MORNING
__________________________________
The GENERAL and BOURNE escort DELTA, EMBER, LUKAS and IZABEL
along Ivorfjord's semi-circular harbour. It is now morning,
and the harbour is bustling with tradesmen and the people of
Ivorfjord. Many speak in hushed tones, looking warily around
them. The boarded up Eastern River is used as a market
street, the stands set up at the bottom of the riverbed.
EMBER
What is this place?
BOURNE
This, is the palace. It was built at
the beginning of this Age to symbol
the completion of the city by King
Cyrus.
EMBER
And the funny lamps? They don't use
fire.
BOURNE
(Laughs shortly) Fire and water don't
mix. The engineers who designed this
city built foundations to direct the
four rivers of the Realm into the
harbour and stop at the dam, the piece
of wood you see rising near the edge
The door makes a groaning noise as the cogs twist and turn,
slowly opening the doors to reveal the Palace throne room.
IZABEL gives a slow whistle of admiration.
IZABEL
That is a nice door.

SCENE 55 - QUEEN ZARYA
INT. IVORFJORD'S PALACE THRONE ROOM - MOMENTS LATER
___________________________________________________
The throne sits on its own pedestal at the end of the room. A
large tall window arches behind it looking out to the Western
Ocean, with a fountain in-between the throne and the window
which provides the water to the two long pools. The throne
itself is mostly made of iron and bronze, indented with
sapphires and other blue gems.
QUEEN ZARYA
Princess Emlyn. Exactly what are you
wearing in my court.
DELTA finally shrugs off the two guards and rolls her eyes to
the ceiling.
DELTA
That's the first thing you have to say
to me?
QUEEN ZARYA
It is certainly not the last. Go
change immediately, whilst I acquaint
myself with the strange company you
keep.
DELTA scowls at her mother, but stalks off to the side door
of the room and exits. QUEEN ZARYA's eyes sweep over LUKAS,
IZABEL and EMBER, and she leans back into her throne.
QUEEN ZARYA
Guards, leave us.
The GENERAL and the guards nod to their Queen, rap their
right fists onto their left breastplate, and exit. The iron
doors whir behind the group, signalling they are now alone
with the Queen and BOURNE.
QUEEN ZARYA
Not many people willingly enter my
city in these times. Whatever you say
here is safe from the Ancients. They
may have my city, but so far I have
managed to keep them out of my throne
room. The news of the outside world
grows thin, so please speak.
EMBER
It is and honour to meet you, your
Grace. I am Ember, and this is Izabel
of Dayton and Lukas of Qadim-
QUEEN ZARYA
Qadim? Is that not where the last of
the Earth Clans resided?
LUKAS
It was. The Ancients found us and
destroyed the town. I and my mentor
Alastair are the only survivors.
QUEEN ZARYA
Alastair...that is a name I have not
heard in a long time. Is he not the
last of the Fyre Elementalists?
LUKAS
(Nodding) He is, and he is also the
reason we are here. The Balance
Ceremony is drawing near, and we need
you, Alastair, Chief Hiamovi of the
North tribe and the leader of the Fae
to come together and ensure the
Spirits remain in our world in the
next Age.
QUEEN ZARYA
You ask much, for someone who is so
young.
LUKAS
Do you want the Realm to look like the
East? Your waters turned to dust and
your city fall into the Ocean?
QUEEN ZARYA
My withdrawal from the Realm's
business is what has kept my city from
falling into the ocean, boy.
LUKAS
(Frowning) What do you mean?
QUEEN ZARYA gets up from her throne and descends down towards
the group.
QUEEN ZARYA
The Ancients took my city for a
EMBER
(Quietly after a pause) You did what
any ruler would have done, and saved
your own before the others.
IZABEL
Is there no way of breaking through
the electrical field?
QUEEN ZARYA
The energy comes from the Ancients
themselves, and no one knows what it
is, or where it came from. We are
fighting an enemy we know nothing
about.
EMBER
What if we found the source of the
River Ea, and a way to restart it?
That way you could have the natural
flow of the water once again and no
longer rely on the trapped Water
Spirits to keep the city afloat.
BOURNE
It sound's impossible, but the girl
may be on to something.
IZABEL
Restart a river!? How would you do
that?
QUEEN ZARYA
It could work. If the River Ea flowed
through the streets again, my people
would feel the power return to the
city again and rise against the
Ancients.
BOURNE
But there is still the question on how
we would restart the river!
QUEEN ZARYA
(Slightly defeated) You are right. It
would take a miracle for that to
happen.
EMBER
(An idea suddenly comes to her.) I can
do it.
QUEEN ZARYA
You can?
EMBER
I know someone who could.
QUEEN ZARYA
Well, who is it?
EMBER
That I can't say. But I will convince
them, you just have to trust me-
IZABEL
Sounds better by the minute-
EMBER
I can, and I will!
QUEEN ZARYA
I believe you. I do not know why, but
I do. If you succeed and I see that
River in my streets, Ivorfjord will be
ready for the Ceremony.
LUKAS
We haven't got long. The Ceremony
happens in nine days.
QUEEN ZARYA
The Balance Ceremony happens in this
throne room. We are directly over
Carlow Falls, where the strongest
forces from each corner of the Realm
join. All four Elementalists must be
here by midnight on the night of the
new moon.
BOURNE
We must not forget about the
participation of the Fae. Without
their help and the Earth Element
present, the Ancients will have their
way.
QUEEN ZARYA
Then we send two envoys. One to
restart the river with this girl, and
one to the Fae and convince them to
rejoin the Realm to save the Spirits.
BOURNE
We would have to smuggle them out of
the city somehow, and have something
the Fae would want so they would let
us in to their lands-
revealing the same three iron dots under each of her eyes.
DELTA wears a sleeveless turquoise dress, a leather corset
and brighter orange steps in her skirt. In her hand swirls a
bronze pistol.
DELTA
Bourne, you gotta work on sounding
more positive and less like an army
sergeant.
IZABEL
(Gives a low whistle) You clean up
nice.
DELTA
You should try it.
QUEEN ZARYA
No time for that. It is decided.
Ember, you shall go with Princess
Emlyn to the Eastern Plains to restart
the river. Perhaps someone with the
Water Element may be of use. Bourne
shall take Izabel and Lukas to the
South into the lands of the Fae.
BOURNE
How will we convince the Fae to grande
us an audience? We can't use the Trade
Routes as an excuse anymore-
QUEEN ZARYA
The Ancients brought in one of their
people into our prisons. If you break
her out of them, I can arrange a boat
at the Southern Lock to smuggle you
all out down the River Loire. Two
horses will be put on the boat, ready
for the Princess and Ember to make
their way to the East when you are far
enough from the city.
IZABEl and EMBER slowly nod in agreement. LUKAS bows his head
in gratitude.
LUKAS
Thank you, Queen Zarya.
QUEEN ZARYA
I hope to see you succeed, so my city
is no longer under the threat of these
Ancients.
DELTA
Who's ready for a prison break then?

SCENE 56 - PRISON BREAK
INT. IVORFJORD'S PRISON - AFTERNOON
___________________________________
DELTA steps over the body of a guard. EMBER, IZABEL and LUKAS
do the same but look confused.
IZABEL
(Hushed) What happened to him?
DELTA
We use a drug to subdue the prisoners
so they are quiet. Bourne used a
little bit on the guards, so they
couldn't run and tell the Ancients.
LUKAS
Couldn't the Queen just tell them to
let us through?
DELTA
(Scornful) And that would just let the
Ancients know she's working against
them. No. We are on our own.
DELTA
Look out for this Fae, I am not
entirely sure which one it is.
IZABEL
Then how will we be able to tell?
DELTA
Fae are a proud race and always
appear...different to humans. It'll be
pretty obvious who she is amongst the
rest of this lot.
EMBER IZABEL
Tamesis!? Tarin?!
DELTA and LUKAS stop and turn around to hush the girls,
though stop when they see both of their amazed expressions.
DELTA
What is it?
IZABEL
...It's my brother!
EMBER
It's my, well, Mother.
LUKAS
(Slowly) Delta...hand me the keys.
As LUKAS enters the cell, IZABEL grabs the keys off of him
and unlocks TARIN's cell.
IZABEL
Give me the keys!
EMBER
Lukas, what are you doing?
back, on to her front and rips down her red dress to reveal
her pale back.
EMBER
Lukas!
LUKAS
I think we found our Fae.
TAMESIS' back reveal two long white scars that disappear into
the rest of her dress.
EMBER
What do you mean?
LUKAS
I just know. (To EMBER) Who is she to
you?
EMBER
She's the one who left me in Colby-
DELTA hurries into the cell and hauls TAMESIS onto her feet
with LUKAS's help. EMBER still stands amazed at TAMESIS, who
is slowly becoming awake.
TAMESIS
(Still under the drug) Who are you?
DELTA
If we have our Fae, we have to get out
of here before the alarm is raised.
Izabel! We have to move!
IZABEL
We have to take him with us!
LUKAS
Izabel we haven't got time-
IZABEL
(Snaps) He's my brother!
LUKAS
Fine. Delta and Ember, take Tamesis,
I'll help Izabel.
They all suddenly freeze as they hear distant shouts from the
entrance of the prison, footsteps getting closer.
IZABEL
Is there another way out?
DELTA
No. That's the only entrance and exit.
IZABEL
(Desperate) Then where do we go!?
DELTA grins and starts to move TAMESIS out of the cell with
EMBER's help. LUKAS darts into TARIN's cell and hauls TARIN
to his feet. The shouts are getting closer.
DELTA
The sewers lead into one of the
rivers, we can get out that way. Run!
They reach the end of the corridor which is a dead end. The
guards have reached the empty cells and spot the group.
LUKAS
We're trapped!
DELTA
No we're not!
DELTA shoves TAMESIS onto EMBER and yanks the drain that's
beneath them up. It groans as it comes loose, revealing a
chute big enough to fit one person at a time going downwards,
rushing with water. Pistol fire starts to ricochet towards
them.
IZABEL
(Shrieks) You must be crazy!
DELTA
I am.
EMBER
Go! Both of you!
LUKAS and IZABEL hesitate, but hurry into the chute with
TARIN as guard's reach them. EMBER deflects a bullet with her
katana, covering LUKAS and IZABEL as they jump into the
chute, LUKAS helping TARIN after IZABEL has gone.
The first guard reaches EMBER who is a bit further ahead from
the others. EMBER cries out as she drives one of her katana's
into his chest. The guard widens his eyes as the sword
protrudes through his body and out his back, blood gurgling
in his moth and spitting on EMBER.
For a moment they look into each others eyes, the guard
terrified, EMBER frozen. EMBER is broken out by another
gunfire, and grunts as she shoves the guard off of her, the
katana still buried in his chest.
The world almost seems to slow down as EMBER leaps into the
chute, the guards shouting after her. As the darkness
swallows her, EMBER leaves one of her katanas behind her for
the first time in sixteen years.

RAYEN and SHADI are sat in a small cave, the entrance barred
with iron. They sit opposite one another. SHADI tucks her
arms around her legs, her head buried down and is shaking
slightly. RAYEN feels empty inside, her head leaning back on
to the cave wall, looking into the white crystals that grow
in Onandowaga, pulsing the only weak light into the cave.
RAYEN
Why are you here?
AWENDELA
I wanted to see how you were.
RAYEN
(Looks away, emotional) How could you
let him do that? Stand by him as he
pushed me away from the tribe? Let
Hiamovi die?
AWENDELA
It was the only way I could protect my
child.
RAYEN
The Snake's child.
AWENDELA
No.
AWENDELA
(Cont.) The child inside of me is not
the Snake's child. It is the child of
the Eagle.
RAYEN
How can that be?
AWENDELA
I have always hated that man. I was
forced into that bond by my parents.
He is a monster. I watched him drag
our tribe through the mountains,
leaving the elderly behind to die
because they couldn't keep up. Today,
I watched him slaughter a good man in
cold blood, a man who reminded me so
much of Makya-
RAYEN
...Is that child inside of you really
my fathers ?
AWENDELA
You are not alone anymore, Rayen.
SHADI
How did it happen, if you were mated
to the Snake?
AWENDELA
You must understand that Makya was
lonely after Kateri's death. He had to
raise a child on his own and lead a
tribe. I offered to take care of
Rayen, allowing him not to worry if
she was always alone when he was away.
I cared for you Rayen, as a daughter,
and loved teaching you my craft and
watch you grow.
From seeing you so much, I also got to
know Makya well. Over time, your
father and I slowly grew feelings for
each other, in ways I have never felt
before. One night I blurted out how I
was falling in love with him, and
without a word he swept me up in his
arms and kissed me.
or romanticised by it.
RAYEN
I still don't understand. How did you
end up with Chu'a if you and my father
loved one another?
AWENDELA
I had been betrothed to Chu'a for a
very long time. If my family and the
tribe had discovered our affair, I
would have dishonoured my family and
both Makya and I would have been
banished from the tribe. You would
have been alone Rayen, and both of us
agreed we would rather loose each
other than you.
RAYEN
(Somber) Thank you. Without either of
your sacrifices, I would never have
had the chance to know at least one of
my parents. I cannot thank you enough
for that.
SHADI
If you broke your affair off so long
ago...how was the child conceived?
AWENDELA
Seven moons before the Ancients
destroyed our village, I was beaten by
Chu'a as I had disappointed him.
RAYEN
(Horrified) Beaten?
AWENDELA
(Laughs coldly) He did it often. We
had been trying for a child for a long
time, he wanted an heir. I kept losing
each one. He blamed me, saying it was
AWENDELA
I may have loved your father Rayen,
but I also loved you as my daughter.

you're safe now-
TARIN
Get away from me!
TARIN looks around at the strange people around him and tries
to make a run for it. BOURNE stops him.
IZABEL
Tarin-I-What's wrong with you! It's
me, Izabel-
TARIN
I don't want her near me!
BOURNE
Why is he like this?
IZABEL
I-I don't know. He's my brother, maybe
he doesn't recognise me from the drug
still-
TARIN
Let me go! Let me go-
Now getting annoyed, BOURNE draws out a vial with the drug in
it, and forces TARIN to drink it. TARIN gurgles in protest,
but becomes unconscious in BOURNE's arms. BOURNE grunts at
the deadweight of TARIN.
IZABEL
What did you do-
BOURNE
We haven't got time for this! Where is
Ember?
DELTA
Always the dramatic, aren't you
Bourne?
BOURNE
(Annoyed) Let's go. Kelven is waiting
for us.
The group start to make their way down the Southern River
towards the city walls.

Bourne! About time you got here! It's
been a while since we travelled South

me to enjoy tonight?
IZABEL and EMBER grit their teeth. BOURNE finally gets a word
in.
BOURNE
Kelven! Good to see you. It's best we
leave now-
KELVEN
I see you brought Delta with you.
DELTA
(Crosses her arms) Still the worthless
pirate, Kelven?
KELVEN
(Bows mockingly) Your words hurt me,
Princess Emlyn. You were much more fun
when you were younger.
DELTA growls and knees KELVEN between the legs and marches
onto the barge.
DELTA
Don't call me princess.
BOURNE
You should know by now not to call her
'Princess.' The other women with us
are also under my protection, Kelven.
KELVEN
(Still recovering) All right, all
right. Just get on the barge.
They all board the barge. EMBER, DELTA, LUKAS and IZABEL go
with TARIN and TAMESIS down below deck to hide from the
guards.

The barge gets through the Southern Lock, the alarm hasn't
reached the locks yet from the prison.
The barge slowly moves through the Southern River Loire and
away from the city walls. EMBER, DELTA, IZABEL and LUKAS
return to the top deck where two horses wait for them.
EMBER
I guess this is it.
IZABEL
You must be crazy to restart a river.
Good luck.
EMBER
It'll have to work. We have no other
option.
DELTA
I'd rather go on this suicide mission
than meet the Fae.
IZABEL
What's that supposed to mean?
DELTA
(Grinning) You'll see.
EMBER and DELTA mount their horses. EMBER nods to IZABEL and
LUKAS.
EMBER
See you on the new moon.
EMBER and DELTA nudge their horses, and gallop off the barge
and leap to the shore. LUKAS and IZABEL go to the edge of the
barge to watch the retreating figures disappear into the
East. LUKAS looks to IZABEL and takes her hand.
LUKAS
It's just the two of us now.
IZABEL looks into the sunset, not sure how to feel and pulls
her hand away from LUKAS.
IZABEL
I guess it is.

AWENDELA has been gone for several hours now, and RAYEN and
SHADI lapse into silence. Their heads snap up as they hear
footsteps rushing towards their cell, and keys rattle as
AWENDELA appears and opens the door hurriedly.
RAYEN
(Rushing to the door) Awendela! What's
wrong?
AWENDELA lets RAYEN and SHADI out of the prison, and they
start to hurry along the corridor.
AWENDELA
There's a part of the story I didn't
tell you. When your mother Kateri
arrived to our village, she was
already in labour with another child.
I was her midwife, and she gave birth
to a son-
SHADI
She was what!? How is that possible-
AWENDELA
-and Makya thought it was best the son
was raised separately from Rayen when
Kateri died as the tribe always feared
both of them. Makya did not want the
tribe to treat Rayen the same way they
did with the son-
RAYEN
Awendela, slow down! What's going on?!
AWENDELA
Chu'a know's who it is. It's Elio,
Rayen. You have a half brother. Chu'a
has kept Elio alive this long as
leverage over you, but now he plans to
kill Elio and you to end any claims to
the Chieftain position.
RAYEN
Elio!? Why only tell me now-
AWENDELA
So much has happened I-
AWENDELA doubles over in pain and lets out a low groan. RAYEN
and SHADI rush to support her, and RAYEN looks at SHADI in
terror.
RAYEN
What's happening! What's wrong with
her-
AWENDELA
(Weak and disorientated) No-no-not
now-
SHADI
The stress of the last few weeks has
taken its toll. She's gone into labour
premature-
RAYEN
What do we do-
SHADI
I'll take her away safe from Chu'a.
Listen, Rayen, you have to challenge
him to a Trial By Aer. It is the only
way to end his power over this tribe.
RAYEN
I have to kill him!?
SHADI
It's the only way. You cannot fail.
Chu'a cannot see this child, and you
have to save Elio if he truly is
Kateri's first born.
RAYEN backs away from SHADI and AWENDELA, who is now leaning
against SHADI in agonising pain. RAYEN nods.
RAYEN
Go. Chu'a won't get to Awendela.

RAYEN bursts into the hall to see CHU'A with his staff in
hand at the head of the hall. ELIO is on his knees in front
of CHU'A, bruised and bloody. The two tribes still stand
divided against the walls, watching. They all look up at
RAYEN's entrance.
RAYEN
I, Rayen, daughter of Makya the Eagle
and Granddaughter to Hiamovi the Wolf,
challenge you Chu'a, to a Trial By
Aer.
CHU'A
You dare to challenge me!?
RAYEN
I have more right to be Chief than you
ever did.
CHU'A
You will only keep the tribe here in
the mountains. Why should we hide away
in this tomb? You are a lonely woman
with a bastard brother - ah yes I know
about your mothers little secret - and
a father who had an affair with my
mate! I know more than you realise
girl-
RAYEN
My challenge still stands.
NORHTERN SEER
And her challenge is recognised.
CHU'A
Fine. If death is your wish, I will
The chalk circle from the first trial is still drawn in the
Great Hall. The NORTHERN SEER steps forward, her staff
glowing a pale white.
NORTHERN SEER
Step into the circle.
CHU'A licks his lips and paces his side of the circle. RAYEN
calmly enters the other side, though her palms are sweaty and
inside she is terrified. CHU'A may be wiry, but he is strong
and full of hate. RAYEN clenches her fists. She must succeed.
For Awendela and Elio and her tribe. There is no other way.
NORTHERN SEER
I now call on the Aer Spirits, who
will test these two challengers to
find the worthy!
RAYEN scrambles up, blood dripping down her face. She see's
CHU'A distracted as he scrabbles at his throat for air. RAYEN
CHU'A chokes and for the first time looks scared. He tries to
defend himself, but is clumsy. RAYEN punches his throat hard.
RAYEN grabs CHU'A's hair, and with her other hand gouges into
CHU'A's eyes, smiling slightly as she hears his screams of
pain. RAYEN feels body fluids drip down her fingers and
CHU'A's face as she draws her fingers away from his destroyed
eyes.
CHU'A's body collapses to the floor, and RAYEN feels the Aer
Spirits withdraw from the circle, letting her breath again.
It is only now that RAYEN realises how badly she needs air,
and gasps desperately.
NORHTERN SEER
Stop, Child. That is enough.
RAYEN
(Croakily) Hey, Elio.
ELIO
(Blearily) I must be with the Spirits,
for my sister is before me.
RAYEN
(Gently amazed) You know?
ELIO
I heard everything. I shall never be
prouder to call you my sister. You are
more blood to me than anyone else.
RAYEN
I am your Chief. I forgive you, for
standing idly by this man for so many
winters. For standing by the man who
spat on my fathers name and killed the
Great Wolf. I forgive you, so that our
two tribes can heal and become
stronger together for the future.
RAYEN turns and runs out of the Great Hall to find AWENDELA,
the Snake's body left in blood on the floor with dark holes
in his skull where his eyes once were.

SCENE 63 - ENTERING ALFHEIM
EXT. KELVEN'S BARGE APPROACHING THE SOUTHERN FORESTS - LATE
___________________________________________________________
_________
AFTERNOON
The barge sails deeper into the forest, slowly entering Fae
territory. The land of the Fae is called 'Alfheim.'
Soon, the only light guiding the barge through the trees are
thousands of golden fireflies buzzing gently in the tunnel
around the river created by the tree branches.
TAMESIS has been dragged up on deck, for the boat has been
travelling from Ivorfjord for two days. TAMESIS is becoming
conscious finally, and as she gets her bearings she realises
where she is.
TAMESIS
What have you done?
TAMESIS
Where is Ember?
IZABEL
Not here. What are you so scared of?
TAMESIS looks around the dark trees and pales even further.
TAMESIS
(Whisper) Them.
A cold voice cuts through the voices before they get too
uncomfortable.
MORWEN (VO)
Enough.
LUKAS opens his eyes, his body shaking. Beside him, IZABEL is
also trembling, and they look at each other in fear.
The barge comes to a halt at the wooden jetty, and the plank
thunks to land to allow its passengers to disembark. TAMESIS
shrieks and tries to make a run for it.
BOURNE
Don't let her escape!
KELVEN
Go on, get her men! That's it, keep
her quiet-
TAMESIS
Let me go! It is suicide going in
there-
BOURNE
(To KELVEN) Bring her seperataly.
Don't let her make too much noise.
KELVEN
(Grinning) Oh, she won't.
CAUIS
Welcome. The Lord and Lady of Alfheim
await your arrival.
KELVEN
(Shouts from the barge) Cauis! It's
been a while!
CAUIS
Not long enough.
CAUIS turns and guides the group further into the trees along
a narrow path.
BOURNE
(Chuckling back to KELVEN) You have
never had the charm for the Fae,
Kelven. We shall see you there.
IZABEL
He has wings.
BOURNE
(Dryly) He is Fae. Of course he does.

INT. THE FAE THRONE GLEN - DUSK

Sitting at the top of the glen are MORWEN and LORD EMYR in
two willow woven thrones.
MORWEN's throne and the floor by her feet are covered with
CAUIS
Kneel, to the Lord and Lady of the
Fae.
LORD EMYR
Why are you here?
BOURNE
My Lord, we bring news from Ivorfjord.
LORD EMYR
Ah! Prince Bourne. It has been nearly
an entire Age since one of the royals
from the West graced our forest. What
news do you bring?
BOURNE
The Ancients have seized Ivorfjord.
The Age we are in is drawing to a
close. We need your people to join
ours to stand a chance against the
Ancients.
LORD EMYR
So the rumours are flesh and true. Why
should we care for the rest of the
Realm, when the Realm is so polluted
by newfound ideas?
BOURNE
Newfound ideas, My Lord?
LORD EMYR
Yes. Humans are discovering new
sciences and mechanics, forgetting the
bonds you have with the Spirits.
BOURNE
Then you realise how important it is
we have a strong Earth representative
at the Balance Ceremony to keep the
Spirits in this Realm. You cannot be
blind and ignore such an ancient
tradition-
LORD EMYR
How dare you call me blind! You cannot
waltz in here and tell us what our
responsibilities are! Our people have
been in this world longer than any of
your ancestors, from the first clans
to the burning of Carsten and the Fall
of the Fyre Civilisation!
MORWEN
We know how weak your city is without
the Eastern river. How can we perform
the Balance Ceremony if Carlow Falls
is not strong enough?
LUKAS
We have sent an envoy to the East to
restart the river.
MORWEN
And how do you know that will work?
IZABEL
Faith.
MORWEN sees IZABEl and pales, but before she can say
anything, a shriek echoes through the glen and KELVEN enters
with TAMESIS, who is struggling in KELVEN's iron grip around
her arms.
KELVEN
(To Tamesis) Will you give it a rest!
TAMESIS
Sister, I did not expect to see you
again.
MORWEN rises from her throne and the lavender follows her
feet as she walks towards TAMESIS in fury.
MORWEN
For you knew that if you did, you
would die. Where is the child?
TAMESIS
Away from you.
MORWEN
You were to bring the child to me!
TAMESIS
She would have become a weapon in your
hands! I have followed her rebirth for
a millennium and knew she was destined
for more than you-
MORWEN
You have become too human, sister. No
matter how hard you've tried to hide
it, your blood says who you truly are!
skeletal bones writhe under her skin and break through it.
Blood starts to run down TAMESIS's back, her entire body
trembling. The bones continue to grow out, and as they reach
full size black feathers begin to grow out of the bone.
TAMESIS
You have become blind Morwen. Do you
not see who else has come home?
MORWEN
Get up, child.
MORWEN
(More to herself) ...Alyvia.
IZABEL
My name is Izabel!
LORD EMYR
Who is she Morwen?
MORWEN
My daughter.
IZABEL backs away in shock. The Fae screech around the group
in excitement, but quieten immediately when MORWEN raises her
hand to silence them.
LORD EMYR
I see. And dare I ask who the father
is?
MORWEN
We swore never to speak of this.
TAMESIS
It is not something you can avoid
forever.
MORWEN
(Breathy, excited) Then this must be-
TAMESIS
Yes. That is Kieron.
MORWEN
(Softly) Oh, this is perfect. They
have come to me at last!
LUKAS
What are you talking about?
MORWEN
Your mother stands next to you, boy.
TAMESIS
(To MORWEN) I left him with the Ekiya
for them to raise. Finding the child
was my priority.
LUKAS
Do you mean Ember?
LORD EMYR
(More urgent) Morwen. Who is the
father?
MORWEN
He was the last of the Fyre
Elementalists.
LUKAS
...Alastair?
MORWEN
He was a lot younger when Tamesis and
I met him. Tamesis fell in love with
him, and whatever my sister had, I
had.
TAMESIS
You had no right!
MORWEN
Enough sister! That is now far in the
past.
IZABEL
But that would mean-
MORWEN
Yes. In one way, you are half
siblings.
MORWEN
What I want to know however, is how my
daughter is still alive.
TAMESIS
Ah! If only you hadn't chosen a hunter
who had pity in his heart for the babe
you wanted to kill, and gave her to a
human family to raise instead...
MORWEN
Cauis!
CAUIS
My Lady?
MORWEN
How did you fail me?!
CAUIS
I went back to kill her after years
had past. After killing her parents, I
believed her brother, full of hate
towards our kind and fuelled by my
murder, would finish the job.
MORWEN
But he clearly didn't!
MORWEN
Wake!
TARIN stirs and yelps as he sees the Fae around him. TARIN
drops from BOURNE's arms and scrambles to look around, his
chest heaving.
TARIN
Where am I?!
MORWEN
(To the listening Fae) This is your
example! Of a human who has hated our
kind his entire life. He had enough
rage in him when he discovered that
his sister is Fae, to kill her.
TARIN
What do you want from me!
IZABEL
Leave him alone!
MORWEN
See how he has even polluted one of
our own! (Turns to IZABEL) He wanted
to kill you, daughter.
TARIN
You were never my sister, only a
MORWEN
(Laughing gleefully) Oh she didn't, my
hawk did!
TARIN
You shall pay for this!
MORWEN
He already has. (Turns to CAUIS)
Cauis, my hawk, my hunter. You have
failed me. I have no use for you any
longer!
TARIN
You will all pay for this!
IZABEL
Tarin, wait!
As TARIN tries to run out the glen, IZABEL grabs his wrist.
TARIN
Let me go, you're one of them - a
monster.
IZABEl goes pale and let's go. TARIN runs out the glen.
MORWEN
(Gleeful) Let him run! (To BOURNE and
KELVEN) Go with him! If we see that
river run through the East, you will
see us at the Balance Ceremony!
BOURNE
How do I have your word?
MORWEN
Fae do not lie.

MORWEN
No. You are Fae and your home is here.
It is time you learnt our ways.

INT. ONANDOWAGA CITY'S MEDICAL CAVE - NIGHT
___________________________________________
RAYEN bursts into the cave where the Onandowaga tribe treat
their sick, her face and arms still covered in dried blood.
It is only minutes after she has defeated CHU'A.
RAYEN
(To SHADI) What's wrong? Why is she so
pale?
SHADI
She's lost too much blood, Rayen. This
birth is not a normal one.
AWENDELA
(Weakly) Remember what I have taught
you. Feel the child, where is it?
RAYEN
The baby is premature. It has not had
the chance to turn head down, it's
coming out breech.
SHADI
What can we do?
RAYEN
I-I don't know.
RAYEN falls back onto her legs. AWENDELA grabs RAYEN's hands
and RAYEN leans in to hear.
AWENDELA
Save my baby. It is all I have lived
for these past moon cycles. If either
one of us should survive, I do not
want it to be me.
AWENDELA
I love you, Rayen.
RAYEN makes the first cut across the stomach, though makes
sure not to cut too deep. AWENDELA is so weak she doesn't
struggle, her lips blue and her eyes glassy.
Blood rushes out of the woman and soaks RAYEN's hands and
knees.
It is a boy. The baby takes it's first breath and cries. Two
of the women rush forward and wrap him in cloths, and quickly
bath him. RAYEN, her hands soaked red, touches AWENDELA's
forehead as the woman comes back to consciousness slowly, her
hand still in RAYEN's.
RAYEN
(Through her tears) You did it,
Awendela. It is a boy, and he is
alive.
AWENDELA
(Very weak) I name him Makya, for the
eagle shall fly once again.
With her final words, AWENDELA's arm falls limply to her side
from RAYEN's hand and dies.
RAYEN and SHADI bow their heads in grief, the only sounds in
the room are the cries of the child. One of the women who has
washed the baby kneels beside RAYEN and hands her her
brother. RAYEN takes him, and cradles him crying. The baby
looks up at her and calms, his eyes dark and wide.
The cave door slams open, and one of the women give a shriek
of surprise. RAYEN and SHADI look up in shock, the baby
starts to cry again.
ALASTAIR
They're here.
RAYEN
(Confused) Who? Alastair, why aren't
you in Ivorfjord!
ALASTAIR
They're here. They know they killed
the wrong chief. They took the Western
pass. They're here.
SHADI
Who! You're mad!
RAYEN
The Ancients.

SCENE 66 - COMPLICATED
EXT. THE FAE THRONE GLEN - DUSK
_______________________________
The Fae court have long gone, leaving IZABEL and LUKAS alone
in the throne glen. They sit at opposite ends, IZABEl has
tucked her knees under her arms, LUKAS lies down and looks up
at the trees. They are silent in each other's company, IZABEL
still can't look at LUKAS.
LUKAS looks over to IZABEL, his face clouded. LUKAS sits up.
LUKAS
Izabel.
IZABEL
(Thickly) What do you want.
LUKAS
I want to know what we should do.
IZABEL
I don't even know what I am anymore.
IZABEL lets out a sob and buries her head in her knees. She
hates herself like this, she never cries.
LUKAS
It's okay-
IZABEL
No-Lukas-We shouldn't be doing this-
LUKAS
You are Izabel. No one can change
that.
IZABEL
Is what we did wrong?
LUKAS
I don't know. It didn't feel wrong.
expression.
TAMESIS
In the world of the Fae, a brother and
sister together is not seen as taboo.
LUKAS
I don't know what you're on about.
What do you want?
TAMESIS shrugs.
TAMESIS
We are a different species to humans,
and our genetics work differently. We
can live as long as we want. After
living for centuries, it doesn't
matter who your lover is, for they
could be three thousand years older
than you and that time makes our blood
different. That blood runs inside both
of you, so here you can be together
without any fear.
IZABEL
It's still messed up.
TAMESIS
Perhaps in the world of humans it is.
To the Fae, beauty and sexuality is
fluid. Even so, ten thousand years ago
you humans believed that royal blood
could only stay pure if you married
inside your family. It happens across
history, you will not be the first.
IZABEL
Why are you keeping us here?
TAMESIS
You are both part Fae. Morwen believes
you should stay with your people, here
in Trevelyan.
LUKAS
(Frowns) Trevelyan?
TAMESIS
(Smiling) Yes, the city of Alfheim.
Come, I will show you.
___________________
SCENE 67 - TREVELYAN
EXT. TREVELYAN CITY - NIGHT
___________________________
TAMESIS guides LUKAS and IZABEL through the city of the Fae,
Trevelyan. It is a collection of weeping willow trees under
the shelter of taller pines and oaks, the falling branches of
the willows creating houses for the Fae to live in.
A group of Fae notice them and grab LUKAS and IZABEL, drawing
them in to the centre of the clearing. MORWEN looks over to
them in interest.
LUKAS
Wait here. I'll be back in a moment.
IZABEL nods mutely and watches LUKAS walk away from her.
IZABEL is then distracted by another Fae grabbing her to
dance and is whisked away.
LUKAS
My Lady.
MORWEN
Ah Kieron, how do you find your new
home.
LUKAS frowns.
LUKAS
Kieron may be the name my mother chose
for me, but I chose Lukas.
MORWEN
Your mother, Tamesis. You seem
discontented with her?
LUKAS
(Hesitates) She left me in search for
another child, as if I was not worthy
enough for her. She will never be my
mother.
MORWEN
Even so, she is your blood.
LUKAS
What do you want, My Lady?
MORWEN
Walk with me.
LUKAS and MORWEN walk at the edge of the celebrating Fae hand
in hand.
MORWEN
Tamesis has something I want. You can
get closer to her than I ever will.
LUKAS
Why say that?
MORWEN
You may feel abandoned by her, though
LUKAS
What is it that she has?
MORWEN
An orb made of dimension shards,
something with immense power. It is
needed for the next Balance Ceremony.
If enough magic is put into that orb,
it will bring the dimensions close
together once more, so the Spirits
will remain.
LUKAS
But why would you need something like
that?
MORWEN
Tamesis is young by Fae standards. She
doesn't know what she is doing. I can
use the orb at the Ceremony better.
LUKAS
I will get you your orb, My Lady.
MORWEN
(Whisper into his ear) That you shall,
my Kieron.

SCENE 68 - LOVERS BETRAYAL
EXT. THE DANCING CLEARING - MOMENTS LATER

IZABEL
Is Alastair truly my father?
TAMESIS sighs.
TAMESIS
It was a long time ago. The boy I fell
in love with became a man, and even
though he is merely human, I am not
sure what or who he is anymore.
IZABEL
(Frowning) How long ago was it?
TAMESIS
Alastair was there when the Fyre
Civilisation fell.
IZABEL
But that was nearly a thousand years
ago! How is he alive? How am I alive?
TAMESIS frowns.
TAMESIS
That is what I mean, I do not
understand how he is still alive. How
you are alive is simple. Fae can
choose when to give birth to a child
if they become pregnant. It just
happened to be that Morwen and I chose
roughly the same time to give birth to
you and Lukas. Maybe fate had a role
to play with it.
IZABEL
(Laughs shortly) I don't believe in
fate.
TAMESIS
(Serious) You should. You would be
surprised by the greater forces that
truly rule this world.
TAMESIS
Lukas, what is it?
LUKAS
Morwen sent me.
TAMESIS
What does she want?
LUKAS
(Hesitates) You have something she
wants.
IZABEL
What's going on?
TAMESIS
(To herself) She's already gotten to
him.
IZABEL
(Now scared) Tamesis! What do you
mean!?
TAMESIS
Look at him, Izabel! Does he look like
the Lukas you know?
IZABEL
I-yes-of course he does-
IZABEL
(Cont.) What's-What's happened to him-
TAMESIS
At the end of each Age, a new Lord and
Lady is chosen. Morwen does not want
to give up her power. One way to stay
in power is with the magic of a
dimension orb-
IZABEL
Dimension orb?!
TAMESIS holds out her hand, and the orb from the very
beginning appears in her hands. LUKAS sees it, and takes a
LUKAS
Hand it over, Tamesis.
TAMESIS
Without this orb, we can have no
Balance Ceremony. She will have to use
the other way.
IZABEL
Other way!?
The Fae suddenly scream and dart out of the air. Descending
towards them, is MORWEN, her face cracked like china and
lavender growing wildly in the clearing.
MORWEN
Give it to me, Tamesis.
TAMESIS
Never. You will have to use the other
way.
LORD EMYR
What is going on? Morwen-
MORWEN
You get in the way too often, my Lord.
IZABEL
You're one of them! The Ancients have
that power-
MORWEN
Not quite, daughter. You do not know
of what you speak of. Now, give me the
orb!
TAMESIS
Lukas is lost to us now. Brace
yourself.

EXT. THE EASTERN PLAINS - LATE AFTERNOON

DELTA and EMBER squint at the harsh light in the dead land,
before urging their horses onwards.
EMBER and DELTA reach the bottom of the Volcano where the
empty riverbed of the Eastern River is, and dismount. As
DELTA looks down to the empty riverbed, EMBER looks up to the
side of the Volcano, her hands shielding her eyes from the
sun.
EMBER
Looks like the river came from the
Volcano itself.
DELTA
How can a volcano be the source of
water?
EMBER
(Irritated and tired) You're the Water
Elementalist. You tell me.
DELTA
(Amazed) You had this crazy idea to
drag us into this wasteland! You're
EMBER
Close your eyes.
DELTA
I-What-let go of me-

SCENE 70 - THE OUTLAW PROMISE
INT. THE WISE ONE'S CAVERN - MOMENTS LATER
__________________________________________
EMBER opens her eyes to see herself in the Wise One's cavern.
She smiles to herself, although not sure how she has managed
to transport her and DELTA to the cave.
EMBER
...I did it...
DELTA opens her eyes and looks rather sick, and lets go of
EMBER's hands. EMBER ignores DELTA's retching and turns out
to the vastness of the cavern.
EMBER
Where are you!?
DELTA
(Terrified) What was that?
A burst of purple and orange light fills the cave, and EMBER
and DELTA are suddenly looking into the eyes of the WISE ONE.
DELTA shrieks and backs towards the cave wall.
WISE ONE
(Muses) She has returned.
DELTA can hear him too through her mind, and she grips EMBER
in fear.
DELTA
What is that?
WISE ONE
(To spook DELTA) Something from your
nightmares.
EMBER
Stop it! You know why I am here.
WISE ONE
That comes with a heavy price.
EMBER
(Suddenly unsure of herself) I
shouldn't trust you.
WISE ONE
I have done nothing but help.
EMBER
You haven't told me everything.
WISE ONE
Some things are best left to discover
alone.
EMBER
I don't have time.
WISE ONE
(Chuckles) Child, you have more time
than you think.
EMBER
What am I, truly?
WISE ONE
You are as old as I am, and our powers
come from the same place which is why
you were able to transport yourself
here. That is all I can say.
EMBER
(Frustrated still) Fine, if that's all
you will give me! (Pause) How do I
restart the river?
WISE ONE
What do you offer in return?
EMBER
What do you want?
WISE ONE
Freedom. You are the only one who can
break the chains I am in. Swear you
free me, and you shall gain the
information you seek.
EMBER
(Hesitates) I swear.
WISE ONE
It is done. The Fyre Civilisation
built their forges in the Heart of the
East, for it was where the borders to
this dimension and the Spirit
dimension were weakest.
DELTA
(Snorts) Dimensions don't exist.
WISE ONE
But I do. Is that enough for you to
believe?
DELTA
No, no, you're right. Carry on.
WISE ONE
There was once One Whole dimension. An
incredible force cracked it into three
sister dimensions, but also split the
whole souls of that world into three.
Our dimension Astraea contains the
strongest part of the soul. The Spirit
dimension, Sephtis, is the next
EMBER
I could transport myself here easily
as I've been here before, but I've
never been to Sephtis. How could I
ever get there?
WISE ONE
There are other Spirits in this Realm
that travel between the two. Find one,
and follow it.
EMBER closes her eyes and takes a calming breath. Her mind
pans over the Realm, seeing the Southern Forests and the wild
Western Ocean by Ivorfjord. EMBER travels to the North where
she finds an Aer Spirit whistling around the mountains. It
suddenly changes courses, and she can feel herself being
dragged with it, the buzzing returning and growing louder.
EMBER loses her grip on the Aer Spirit, and her eyes open
again abruptly in the cavern. The buzzing in her ears is
gone.
WISE ONE
Good. But something is still holding
you back.
EMBER
The emotions. I can't control them.
WISE ONE
(Annoyed) You should have learnt by
now.
DELTA
(Gently) Ember, we don't control
emotions. To be human is to live in
the moment and not control how you
feel. It is the choices you make on
those emotions that count.
WISE ONE
Try again.
EMBER closes her eyes again and finds the Aer Spirit. The
buzzing is now deafening, and the Aer Spirit drags EMBER
through a wall of glass into the Spirit Dimension.

SCENE 71 - AWAKENING THE FORGE
EXT. THE SPIRIT DIMENSION SEPHTIS - NIGHT
_________________________________________
The Aer Spirit flies EMBER to something that looks like the
Eastern Volcano, though it is larger and full of life. Lava
spews from the top and Fyre Spirits dance around the rocks,
the earth rumbling from the pressure of the Volcano.
EMBER wills the Aer Spirit to drop her down into the lava.
EMBER tumbles down in the dark sky, feeling the heat increase
the closer the Volcano got.
EMBER falls through the lava, and suddenly appears inside the
Volcano. It looks like an echo of the Eastern Volcano, and
EMBER is standing in its forges.
The forges are humungous metal artworks and alive with Fyre
Spirits powering the Volcano with their powers.
EMBER
What are you?
EASTERN SEER
I am the First Fyre. I am the Heart of
the East.
EMBER
...The First Fyre?
EASTERN SEER
I am the First Light that was in this
Universe. Part of me is in you.
EMBER
What am I?
EASTERN SEER
You will find out soon enough.
EMBER
Then will you come with me?
EASTERN SEER
It is time we returned.
The EASTERN SEER takes EMBER's hand, and EMBER closes her
eyes. EMBER on getting back to Astraea as the buzzing gets
louder in her ears.

SCENE 72 - A NEW HEARTBEAT
INT. ASTREA'S EASTERN VOLCANO'S FORGES - MOMENTS LATER

These forges however are dead and stone cold, not alive and
flowing like they were in Sephtis. EMBER smiles, closes her
eyes, and feels the warmth of the Fyre Spirits flow through
her body, using it as a gateway, to enter her dimension
again.
The Fyre Spirits rush around the forges, sinking into the
walls and burning their way to the core of the Volcano.
Beneath EMBER and DELTA's feet, the ground rumbles and shakes
as the heartbeat of the East is relighted, the Volcano
dormant no more.
The forges are breathed into life with fire and heat, DELTA
shields her eyes from the blast, though EMBER stays
motionless soaking in the heat.

SCENE 73 - WATER FROM FIRE
EXT. EXIT OF THE FORGES - MOMENTS LATER, MORNING
________________________________________________
EMBER and DELTA follow the lights on the floor, and are taken
to a cave that opens up to the outside, the Eastern Plains
spanning out ahead of them. To their right, water cascades
down the Volcano and the River Ea is beginning to flow to the
West. The early morning sun shines on them.
DELTA
...You did it. How?
EMBER
I'm not entirely sure.
DELTA looks at EMBER like she's crazy, but slowly cracks into
a grin. DELTA faces the horizon again, and her face falls as
she realises what time of day it is.
DELTA
Look, it's morning. The Balance
Ceremony is tonight at midnight. How
do we get to Ivorfjord in a day when
it took us over a week just to get
here!?
EMBER feels a breeze catch her hair. The other Spirits of the
Realm are already returning to the East, bringing new life
with them. The dust and ash of the Eastern Plains is becoming
rich Volcanic soil. EMBER smiles.
EMBER
How much do you like to fly?

LUKAS is lying nude on the table, his wrists and ankles bound

(Gritted teeth) Get. Out. Of my head.
A purple haze shines above him, and for a moment LUKAS sees
MORWEN (VO)
Lukas...
MORWEN (VO)
You are to be mine...
LUKAS
(Hazy) Izabel?
MORWEN (VO)
(Excited) Yes, Izabel. I am your
Izabel.
LUKAS
(Smiling) Izabel...
LUKAS's eyes roll back into his head and becomes unconscious.
The Fae shriek in delight. LUKAS's body starts to seize on
the table. MORWEN opens her wings, rises above LUKAS and sits
on top of him.
MORWEN
Come back to me, Kieron. I rename you
your first name, your name amongst
your people.
KIERON's eyes open, still the same green LUKAS had, but his
iris's are ringed in purple. KIERON groans, rips the vines
that are binding him down and sits up to grab MORWEN's back
and bring her closer. KIERON looks up at MORWEN in
admiration.
KIERON
My Lady.
MORWEN
(Bows her head) My Lord.
MORWEN (VO)
Kieron, Kieron, you are mine.
KIERON arches his back and looks upwards, enjoying the pain
and pleasure mixed together. Black feathers start to grow on
his skeletal frames. As climaxes, KIERON wraps his new wings
around his Lady.
KIERON
I am yours.

battling at the city locks
DELTA
Let me down! I need to help!
EMBER
We have to get to the Palace!
DELTA and EMBER fly to the bridge that connects the Palace to

EMBER
You have...wings?!
IZABEL pulls back, her face covered in dried tears and blood.
EMBER
What...happened? Where's Lukas?
IZABEL
We met the Lady of the Fae, who wants
to stay in power after the Balance
Ceremony.
IZABEL
Tell her what you did!
TAMESIS
There was no other way. We need the
orb for the Ceremony!
EMBER
What orb?
IZABEL
(Hysterical) She left Lukas behind so
Morwen could use his bloodlines to
EMBER
I-you-she-what!?
TAMESIS
It was the only way!
QUEEN ZARYA
There is no time for this! My city is
under siege and you just stand here
and squabble-
QUEEN ZARYA
(Shocked) Alastair...We were not
expecting you.
ALASTAIR
It's close to midnight. It's too late
for you now.
TAMESIS
(Shaking) So that's what you are! One
of them! How?
ALASTAIR
You can thank your sister for that.
She taught us the ways of white magic
from the dimension shards - it is how
I could hide myself so easily as a
human.
TAMESIS
Morwen?! She's part of this!?
ALASTAIR
We only want to end an endless war! We
sacrificed our bodies for something
greater than these petty societies you
live in. You will never understand
what we have done for the dimensions!
QUEEN ZARYA
(Disgusted) You are quite mad. We need
the Balance Ceremony-
ALASTAIR
You don't know what you are talking
about, any of you! Hand me the orb!
TAMESIS
Never. Never to you.
ALASTAIR
(Growls) Fine.
ALASTAIR drops the knife and shoves RAYEN away, who falls
into DELTA's arms and collapses to the floor.
DELTA
I got you.
BOURNE
Watch out!

NO!
IZABEL
EMBER!

your soul safe for a while here in
Sephtis. Your past has a strong
connection with this place.
EMBER
But I don't remember my past.
EASTERN SEER
Ah, yes! The human memory is a fickle
thing, though I told you last time you
were here. You come from here.
EMBER
I-I was born here?
EASTERN SEER
(Chuckles) In a way. You and another

the First Light of our Universe. And

EASTERN SEER

SCENE 78 - BALANCE CEREMONY
INT. IVORFJORD'S PALACE THRONE ROOM - NIGHT
___________________________________________
IZABEL is still shielding her eyes from the white light. The
energy has nearly consumed EMBER. Just as it reaches her
heart, EMBER explodes, letting out a scream as golden flames
emit from her heart and lick up the energy greedily. EMBER
throws her hands out to the Ancients in front of her and
ALASTAIR, and send the white energy mixed with the flames
back at them.
ALASTAIR
You do not understand the chaos you
are creating! The war is coming!
EMBER rises from the ground, her eyes a pure white from
flames and energy. EMBER throws one final blast of energy
towards ALASTAIR, the last Ancient alive.
BOURNE
Brace yourselves!
Those who were not with the Ancients remain untouched by the
flames, protected by EMBER. They all rise to their feet
shakily at the silence of the flames disappearing. A slow
clap echoes around the room.
IZABEL
(Whispers) Lukas...
EMBER
"The Shadow's legacy has yet to turn,
when the First Fyre begins to burn."
MORWEN
Ah yes, he is the child of the Shadow
who has been hunting you for so long.
QUEEN ZARYA
Lady Morwen. Why are you here.
MORWEN
Is it not nearly midnight? The new
moon is high, a new Age is about to
begin! The River is flowing, and I
made a promise to be here. So, here I
am!
IZABEL
You have the power of the Ancients,
how can we trust you?
MORWEN
Alyvia, your words hurt me. I merely
taught Alastair White Magic, it was
him who chose how to use it!
QUEEN ZARYA
We have no time for this! We must
perform the Balance Ceremony now,
before it's too late. Tamesis, the orb
please.
QUEEN ZARYA
Leaders of the Realm, join us for the
Ceremony!
QUEEN ZARYA takes her place at the Western point around the
orb with her staff. RAYEN, with the help of DELTA, walks to
MORWEN
Oh dear! We seem to be missing our
Fyre Elementalist. Alastair was the
last one alive...
EMBER
I shall take his place.
EMBER
I can summon the Fyre Spirit.
QUEEN ZARYA
Summon your Spirit.
The four gems of the staffs glow in the throne room - silver,
blue, green and red. A Spirit from each Element enters the
throne room and dances around its summoner. The summoners
point their staffs towards the orb, and the Spirits glide
towards it, and the orb absorbs them. For a moment, the orb
shines brightly and the ground rumbles, then all becomes
silent.
QUEEN ZARYA
It is done. A new Age has begun.
MORWEN
(Clapping in delight) Well, that was
delightful!
MORWEN
I guess we will see each other at the
next Ceremony. Oh - you won't be alive
to see it!
IZABEL
(Breathless) Wait!
IZABEL runs out after them. The room bursts into a gentle
hubbub.
QUEEN ZARYA
Princess Emlyn-
DELTA
It's Delta, mother!
QUEEN ZARYA
I may not be the mother you wish for.
I see you as the next Queen, but I
have come to realise you should travel
and learn more about the Realm before
returning to your duties. You may
leave.
DELTA
I may...leave?
QUEEN ZARYA
Yes, leave. Take that boat of yours,
and tell me of your adventures when
you return.
QUEEN ZARYA
Be safe, Delta.
DELTA
Are you okay?
RAYEN
I-yes. I think so. Alastair brought me
on a Xiuhcoatl, though I have no idea
how to get back to my tribe.
DELTA
I can take you up the River Calder to
Port Tahoe.
RAYEN
Are you sure!
DELTA
It would be my honour.
QUEEN ZARYA
I believe, this belongs to you.
EMBER
Thank you. I am sorry for the family
of the man I killed with it.
QUEEN ZARYA
It was a sacrifice. I hope to see you
again, someday.
TAMESIS and EMBER bow to QUEEN ZARYA, and she retreats back
to her throne. TAMESIS looks at EMBER, the young woman the
girl is starting to grow in to.
TAMESIS
What did I miss?
EMBER
(Softly) My emotions were buried, so I
couldn't reach the Spirits. The Wise
One showed me the way.
TAMESIS
(Surprised) You have met the Wise One?
EMBER
I promised to free him.
TAMESIS
You did what?
EMBER
I swore to it. I have no choice but to
follow through.
TAMESIS
I guess not. Beware of him Ember, your
fates are tied together in more ways
than you can ever imagine. He is not
all kind and knowing.
EMBER
(Laughs ironically) But you still
won't tell me what I am?
TAMESIS
No, I won't.
EMBER
And what of you? Where will you go?
TAMESIS
(Sighing) I will take Izabel with me.
She needs to learn the ways of her
people, and I want to find a way to
save my son from my sisters grasp.
EMBER
He is Izabel's
TAMESIS
That, he is.
EMBER
They won't forget this in a hurry,

TAMESIS
