The rock cycle

1) Igneous rocks: When molten rock from the crust and upper mantle cools, igneous
rocks are formed.
Metamorphic rocks: These rocks are formed from existing rocks when the heat or
pressure or both heat and pressure, causes changes in the rock crystals without
melting the existing rock. The existing rock therefore changes in structure,
becoming a metamorphic rock.
Sedimentary rocks: These rocks are formed by the weathering of existing rocks at
the Earth's surface, precipitation of dissolved materials out of solution in water or
the accumulation and fossilization of living material.
2) The main difference between Igneous, Sedimentary and Metamorphic rocks, is the
way that they are formed, and their various textures. The similarities between these
rocks is that they are all made up of minerals, they can all form sediments and can
form into magma.
3) Cycle refers to a sequences of events that repeat themselves, for example when the
earth crust first formed, all the rocks that existed were igneous. Igneous were slowly
eroded, this will release small particles that after a while will form sedimentary
rocks. The rocks that make up the earth’s crust are always moving which creates the
heat and pressure to form metamorphic rock. This rocks are constantly eroded and
formed in the rock cycle.
