they triumphantly retained the Hall of Fame in Volleyball Boys against TANAGA tossers, 2-1, on October 14 at

The aggressive and hot tempered TANAGA tossers who experienced a decade’s drought in volleyball

BREAKTHROUGH WIN
Bartoli whips Lisicki to win Wimbledon Title
LONDON (AP) – Ever since she was a kid, practicing until midnight with her father, Marion Bartoli went about playing
Tennis her own way.
The two- handed strokes for backhands, forehands, even volleys. The hopping in place and practice swings between
points which help her focus. The unusual setup for serves- no ball bouncing, arms crossed, right wrist, resting on her left
thumb before the toss.
Whatever works, right? This unique Wimbledon, appropriately enough, produced a unique champion in the ambidextrous
Bartoli, the 15th seeded French woman who won her first Grand Slam title by beating 23 rd- seeded Sabine Lisicki of
Germany 6-2, 6-4 Saturday in an error- filled, one sided final that was far from a classic.
“It’s always been a part of my personality to be different. I think being just like the other one is kind of boring. I really
embrace the fact of being a bit different and doing something that not everyone is,” said the 28-year old Bartoli, who plays
tennis right handed but signs autographs with her left.
This was Bartoli’s 47th Grand Slam tournament, the most ever played by a woman before earnings championship.
Lisicki, outclassed seeded No. 1 and a five- time Wimbledon champion Serena Williams, who was passive in crunch time
and essentially dictate points quickly with big serves, powerful returns and pinpoint ground- strokes.
Everyone dreamed of grabbing the title and wanted to wear the silver crown. Many wished to wear the
overwhelming victory but not just anyone was able to make it.
Agile, airborne and electrifying CTE Rabbis’ Marieflor Ganab inked an indelible record as she did her part as the
ace as she fired her blazing and hair-raising spikes and services that muffled out the denied COE Fighting Maroons in
three out of five sets, (25-21), (25-22), (25-23), triumphantly grabbed the championship in the nerve-wrecking 2012
UniGames Volleyball Championship Game – Women Division that kicked off at Mariano Marcos State University Sports
Complex – Volleyball Court amidst the wildly cheering partisan crowd, November 23.
Unleashing her undying dominance, Fighting Maroons’ ace Ulit led the rampage with her missile-like spikes and
services but Ganab of Rabbis didn’t let the flow continue as she banged her tropicalized and booming chinese kills and
defense trimming the gap to 23-21. Biri of Rabbis with her spine-tingling service didn’t let the Fighting Maroons to touch
it, giving the Rabbis 25-21 win in the first canto.
The raging Fighting Maroons changed techniques to throttle the Rabbis at 10-4 blast. The unstoppable Ganab
displayed her stone-like defense skill as she nullified the devastating kills of Fighting Maroons and came up with 23-21,
Rabbis dominated. Fighting Maroons ace Ulit made an unexpected service error giving up the second canto to the Rabbis,
25-22 squeaker.
The heat intensified as the third canto was set. Both teams don’t want to let their opponents dominated them as
they unleashed their jaw-dropping and formidable prowess in the court that led into 4-4 deadlock. The sturdy Ganab made
a way to demolished the wall-like defense of Fighting Maroons as she bombed them with nerve-fuzzling spikes and tricky
placings to grab a 17-11 shot but the Figting Maroons nailed a huge comeback when Ulit was unstoppable with her superb
and heartwarming chinese kills, 18-18 revenge. Both of them give their best in the battle but the CTE Rabbis’ were the
one who spelled success in the end with Ganab’s heartbreaking and sizzling spike, 25-23 edge.
“I never expected to win but it was just teamwork that lead us to our victory,” Ganab said.

Smashers hit a Grand Slam Win
by Mark Ian C. Tagami, BEEd I-A

LAOAG City - Snipers point guard Dennis “Triggerman” Castro played a one-man wrecking with his deadly
sniping in the dying seconds to power Laoag City selection past Pangasinan Tigers, 89-88, in a pulsating Ilocos Basketball
Association 2011 championship game at the Jampacked City Sports Center.
The 5-foot-4 shooting guard banged in 35 points with 10 assists and five blocks despite a bloody nose and foul

all guards thrown at him in the second period.
Center-guard CJ Almazan also exploded for 20 points and plucked 12 rebounds. The 16 year old Castro, who
struck hardest in the 3rd Quarter where the tiger’s fashioned out a decisive run, tallied four triples to finish with 15 points

play Castro fired up an off balance 3 pointers to seal the title.
“Hindi lang matulis at matinik si Castro sa offensive, kinakatakutan pa ang kanyang agresibong opensa” (Castro
is not only sharp and deadly offensively but is also feared for his aggressive defense), said Laoag City coach Orlan
Tamayo.
