Introduction
Indonesia as one of the countries located in the East Asia Region and lower-middle, is
one of the countries that contributes to the largest waste generation in the world. The
amount of waste produced in Bantaeng is 10,653,47 tons in 2020, estimated that the
volume of waste produced everyday will reach 29.1 ton. The results of observations in
Butta Toa Waste Bank showed that the more population increases, the more volume of
waste increases rapidly, but the capacity of landfill is not enough.
Objectives
This study aimed to describe the management system of waste bank Butta Toa.
Methods
This research used mixed methods in that number of sample was 38 customer and
community around the main waste bank Butta Toa. Data collection used questionnaire
with Likert scale and conducted face-to-face interview.
Results
The results revealed that waste bank management system mechanism include sorting,
depositing, weighing, picking up, sorting, shipping and recycling. From 38
respondents, those who met the criteria were 31 (81.6%) while 7 (18.4%) did not.
Conclusion
It concluded that management of Butta Toa Waste Bank performed several stages of
management from sorting, recording weighing to recycling, and customers and the
community had participated in supporting the activities of the waste bank because it
increases income and the environment becomes clean.
