Vitamins Function Example (image/picture)
1. Vitamin A Vitamin A helps
form and maintain
healthy teeth,
skeletal and soft
tissue, mucus
membranes, and
skin. It is also
known as retinol
because it
produces the
pigments in the
retina of the eye.
2. Vitamin D Vitamin D is
essential for
maintaining healthy
bones and teeth. It
also plays many
other important
roles in the body,
including regulating
inflammation and
immune function.

3. Vitamin C Vitamin C is an
antioxidant that
helps protect your
cells against the
effects of free
radicals molecules
produced when
your body breaks
down food or is
exposed to
tobacco smoke
and radiation from
the sun, X-rays or
other sources.
Free radicals might
play a role in heart
disease, cancer
and other
diseases.
Minerals Function
1. Calcium Calcium is a
mineral most often
associated with
healthy bones and
teeth, although it
also plays an
important role in
blood clotting,
helping muscles to
contract, and
regulating normal
heart rhythms and
nerve functions.
2. Potassium Potassium is found
naturally in many
foods and as a
supplement. Its
main role in the
body is to help
maintain normal
levels of fluid
inside our cells.
Sodium, its
counterpart,
maintains normal
fluid levels outside
of cells. Potassium
also helps muscles
to contract and
supports normal
blood pressure.
3. Sodium Most of the body’s
sodium is located
in blood and in the
fluid around cells.
Sodium helps the
body keep fluids in
a normal balance.
Sodium plays a
key role in normal
nerve and muscle
function.
