Q3.
Find the number of triangles in the given figure.

A. 22
B. 24
C. 26
D. 28
Solution:
We may label the figure as shown.

The simplest triangles are IJO, BCJ, CDK, KQL, MLQ, GFM, GHN and NIO i.e., 8 in number.
The triangles composed of two components each are ABO, AHO, NIJ, IGR ICP, DEQ, FEQ, KLM,
LCP and LGP i.e., 10 in number.
The triangles composed of four components each are HAB, DEF, LGI, GIC, ICL and CLG i.e., 6 in
number.
Total number of triangles in the figure = 8+ 10+ 6 = 24.
Hence, option B is correct.

Counting Figures
Q4.
Find the number of triangles in the given figure.

A. 6
B. 8
C. 10
D. 11
Solution:
The figure may be labeled as shown.

The simplest triangles are AJE FBG, GCH„ HDI, and IEJ i.e., 5 in number.
The triangles composed of three components each EBH, AIC, EFC, ADG, and BJD i.e., 5 in number.
Thus, there are 5 + 5 = 10 triangles in the figure. Hence, option C is correct.

m east of point V. Point U is 7 m east of point K. Point P is 9 m north of point U.
What is the shortest distance between point K and W?
A. 9Km
B. 10Km
C. 11Km
D. 12Km
Solution:

Here, the shortest distance between point K and W is 10 m. Hence, the correct answer is option B.

Q6
If southeast becomes east and northwest becomes west and all the other directions are changed in the
same direction. Then what will be the direction for north?
1. North-West
2. South-East
3. South-West
4. North-East
Solution:

If south-east becomes east and north-west becomes west, thus we must tilt the direction 45 ° clockwise.
(To the right) Thus, direction of north will be north-east.

Logical Deduction
Q7.
Below given question contains six statements labelled A, B, C, D, E and F followed by four
combinations of three statements. Choose the set in which the statements are logically related i.e., the
third statement can be deduced from the first two statements together.
Read the information carefully and answer the question.
A) All honest persons are good natured.
B) Some good-natured persons are not honest.
C) Some honest persons are good natured.
D) All honest person is obese.
E) All obese person is good natured.
F) Some good-natured persons are honest.

1. ACD
2. FAC
3. BCF
4. DEA
Solution:
A: The two statements (A & C) are contradictory; hence it is invalid.
B: This also contain A and C; hence it is also invalid.
C: The statements are B and F are again contradictory, hence it is also invalid.
D:All honest person is obese, and all obese are good natured, hence all honest persons are
good natured. Hence, option 4 is the answer.

Missing number
Q8.
Insert the missing character.

A. 83
B. 82
C. 63
D. 62
Solution:
The middle number is the sum of numbers assigned to their adjacent alphabets as,
EJO + TYE = 5 + 10 + 15 + 20 + 25 + 5=80
DHL + PTX = 4+ 8+ 12+ 20 + 24= 84
Similarly, CFI + LOR= 3+ 6+ 9 + 12 + 15 + 18=63
Hence, option C is the answer.

Logical Deduction
Q9
Based on the statement given below which of the following option is correct:
Whenever Preeti's father is in town, she abstains from school and goes to her aunt's house.

1. If Preeti has not abstained from school or she has not gone to her aunt's house, it means that
her father is not in town.
2. If Preeti has not abstained from school but her father is in town, then she will go to her aunt's
house.
3. If Preeti has abstained from school but she has not gone to her aunt's house, it means that her
father is not in town.
4. Both (1 ) and (3 ).
Solution:
We are given that
Whenever Preeti's father is in town, she abstains from school and goes to her aunt's house.
Now option 1 says if Preeti has not abstained from school or she has not gone to her aunt's
house, it means that her father is not in town. this can be inferred.

Option 2 says if Preeti has not abstained from school but her father is in town, then she will
go to her aunt's house. This cannot be inferred as we cannot say she will surely go to her aunt's house.

Option 3says if Preeti has abstained from school but she has not gone to her aunt's house, it means
that her father is not in town. this can also be inferred as she has not gone to her aunt's house
So, 1 and 3 both can be inferred.

Cubes
Q10.
125 small but identical cubes have been put together to form a large cube. How many such small
cubes will be required to cover this large cube completely?
A. 216
B. 217
C. 218
D. 212
Solution:
125 small cubes have been together, so we have a 5 x 5 x 5 cube. So, if we want to cover it
completely, we need to cover all the sides of it completely, we will just put the same cubes over one of
the sides of it, and then from both sides, we've to spread it just by one row and so it will cover it
properly, and do it for all the other sides.
So, now we will have a 7x7x7 cube
Thus, number of cubes required to cover it = (7 x 7 x 7) – (5 x 5 x 5)=218.
