Calculation for Spring capacity:

• Pump weight = 471 kg
• Motor = 960 kg
• Baseplate & coupling = 447 kg

Total Equipment weight = 1878 kg

• Steel base = 304 kg

• Base concrete = 2208 kg
• Water weight(Approx.) = 200 kg

Total weight including = 1878+304+2208+200 = 4590 kg

Concrete & water weight = 45050 N

• Thrust force = 38270 N

Rated capacity for the springs:

• SLFH 113 = 3221 kg (HIGHER LOAD RATED POTENTIAL REPLACEMENT SPRING)

= 31600 N
• SLFH 135 = 1497 kg
= 14700 N

Calculated forces on the springs:

At Node 50890 & 50800 = 23000 N (rated capacity for SLFH 113: 31600 N)
At Node 50900 & 50910 = 14300 N (rated capacity for SLFH 135: 14700 N)

Requirement outlined below for the top strap assembly required on the 24” header at the location
indicated below to counteract the upward forces exerted onto the header.

The existing shoe will remain in place with the addition of a top strap assembly consisting of the
following:

Top strap + base welded to the stop strap +PE slide pad +ss sheet metal(slide
surface)+mounting plate

Refer to the screenshots below identifying the location and attached sketch from Pipeshields. A
structural support is to be designed by Hilti for review by Exyte structural team.

1. INTRODUCTION
This calc report is to verify the weld requirement of a 24” pipe support which was changed from a guide to an
anchor. This will be achieved by welding the existing pipe support clip to the pipe using a proposed 2x75mm
6mm fillet on each of the support brackets.

2.2. STRUCTURAL DESIGN LOADING

2.2.1. General loading

The loads indicated by the pipe stress report are as follows acting on the pipe c/l:

Maximum Loads of all the load cases: F.O.S. Live load = 1.5

Fx (lateral direction) = 3 kN, x F.O.S. = 3 x 1.5 = 4.5kN

Fy (Vertical direction) = 16 kN,

Fz (Axial / Longitudinal direction) = 6 kN, x F.O.S. = 6 x 1.5 = 9kN

Bluejay Project Engineering Calculations- Steel Pipe Support 23/11/2022

3. ANALYSIS

3.1. WELD VERIFICATION

The total effective weld length is 75mm x 2 welds per bracket = 75mm x 2 x 2 = 300mm

Weld size is 6mm fillet.

Weld capacities from Bluebook:

Longitudinal Loading: 9kN

Transverse Loading: 4.5kN

Weld length: 300mm

Longitudinal Resistance = 0.94kN/mm x 300mm = 282kN > 9kN = 3.2% … OK

Transverse Resistance: = 1.15kN/mm x 300mm = 345kN > 4.5kN = 1.3% … OK

Combined utilization: 4.5% … OK

For stability of the connection a minimum of 2no 75mm welds are required on each of the support plates.

4no Welds total.

All connection elements below the new welded connection have not been validated in this report.
