Requirement outlined below for the top strap assembly required on the 24” header at the location
indicated below to counteract the upward forces exerted onto the header.
The existing shoe will remain in place with the addition of a top strap assembly consisting of the
following:
Top strap + base welded to the stop strap +PE slide pad +ss sheet metal(slide
surface)+mounting plate
Refer to the screenshots below identifying the location and attached sketch from Pipeshields. A
structural support is to be designed by Hilti for review by Exyte structural team.

Bluejay Project Engineering Calculations- Steel Pipe Support 23/11/2022
1. INTRODUCTION
This calc report is to verify the weld requirement of a 24” pipe support which was changed from a guide to an
anchor. This will be achieved by welding the existing pipe support clip to the pipe using a proposed 2x75mm
6mm fillet on each of the support brackets.
Bluejay Project Engineering Calculations- Steel Pipe Support 23/11/2022
2. BASIS OF DESIGN
The loads indicated by the pipe stress report are as follows acting on the pipe c/l:
Maximum Loads of all the load cases: F.O.S. Live load = 1.5
3. ANALYSIS
The total effective weld length is 75mm x 2 welds per bracket = 75mm x 2 x 2 = 300mm
For stability of the connection a minimum of 2no 75mm welds are required on each of the support plates.
All connection elements below the new welded connection have not been validated in this report.
