The first cry of revolution is an important event that happened in the

Philippine history. This highlights the start of revolution against the Spanish
colonial masters led by the revolutionary leader Andres Bonifacio. The
Katipuneros along with the supreme leader Andres tear their cedulas which
means to stop the enslavement and fight for their freedom and independence of
the Filipinos. The sources give different version but it significant the struggle of
the men and women of the katipunans in the hands of the Spaniards. Pio
Valenzuela is one of the eye witnesses of the event and a doctor participating in
the cry. In his First version he said that the first cry was held in Balintawak on
Wednesday of August 26, 1986 but because of the fading memory later he wrote
in his memoirs of the revolution and claimed that the cry took place in Pugad
Lawin on August 23, 1896. General Alvarez was a katipunero and a member of
the Magdiwang Function however Alvarez is not an eyewitness of the event so his
version cannot be accepted by equal with the other authors like Masangkay,
Samson, and Valenzuela. His version of the Cry was happened in the Cavite.
Gregoria De Jesus is one of the Katipunan leaders and a wife of Andres Bonifacio
her version of The First Cry said that Bonifacio and his men gathered for a
meeting for the war for freedom in the hills of Balintawak and the first cry
occurred near Caloocan. The Guardia Sivil’s report is the Cry of Balintawak and
stated that the rally happens on the Balintawak on August 25, 1896. Guillermo
Masangkay’s version of the cry of Balintawak was happened in Balintawak, at the
house of Apolonio Samson on August 26, 1896 and claimed that the cedulas were
torned more than one.

In conclusion to the module given, the three authors Pio Valenzuela, The
Guardia sivil and Guillermo Masangkay claims that the First Cry was happened
in Balintawak however Santiago Alvarez said that it happened in Bahay Toro
while Gregoria De Jesus said it happened in Caloocan. It is confusing where the
first cry did really happened but the strongest claims is the first cry were held in
Balintawak. Pio Valenzuela and Guillermo Masangkay is an eyewitness of the
event proven that the Balintawak is the place where the First Cry happened. This
notable event served as a call for freedom and independence. When the Filipinos
fought during this period, it showed not only their courage and bravery, but also
their freedom-loving qualities and nationalism. There are different versions and
accounts, but that shows one important thing. It means understanding how the
Filipinos felt about the struggle and finding a way to end the oppression and
injustice in their own country.
