Beanstalk excercise

CLASS : VI

Ans- gives off light.

Ans- no light source.

Ans- star.

Ans- all of these.

Ans- Air

Ans- Reflection.

Ans- Full.

Ans- rectilinear propagation.

Ans- lens.

Ans- a- Bulb.
b- Glass.
c- Wood.
d- Molten wax.

Ans- a. True.
b. True.
c. False.
Correct statement- Moon is a non-luminous object.
d. True.

Ans- Bulb, torch.

Ans- We are able to see non-luminous objects as they reflect light from a
luminous object.

For example: moon.

Ans- 1) There should be an opaque material.

(2) There should be a source of light and screen.

(3) The object must be placed in the path of light. Then a shadow is
formed on

the screen.

Ans- Wall is opaque. Thus light does not pass through it. It can only reflect
light when falls on it.

Ans-
Luminous Objects Non-luminous Objects

1. Any object which emits light on 1. Any object which does not emit
its own is called luminous. light but reflects the light from
the luminous objects is called
non-luminous.

2. For example: Sun, tubelight. 2. For example: moon.

Ans-
● The images are of the same size as that of the objects.
● The image distance and the object distance is the same.
● The images formed are virtual and erect.
● The images are laterally inverted.

Ans- Transparent objects do not form shadows. The light passes
completely from the transparent objects thus these objects cannot cast a
shadow.

Ans- When an object is placed in front of a plane mirror, the right side of the
object appears to be on the left side of the image and left side of the object
appears to be on the right side of the image. This is called lateral inversion.

Ans- Discussed in the class.

Ans- We are able to see our face in a mirror because light rays get reflected
back from the surface of the mirror whereas in case of a glass piece the
light rays pass through it and hence we are not able to see ourselves in a
glass piece.

Ans- In the first case where the tube is straight because light travels in a
straight line. This is known as rectilinear propagation of light.

Ans- Rectilinear propagation of light.

Ans- Phenomenon – Lateral inversion.

Characteristics of the image formed in a plane mirror:
1. It is laterally inverted.
2. The image size and shape is same as that of the object.

Ans- The surface of the clean water lake is smooth and shiny and acts like a
plane mirror hence we can see a clear image because of regular reflection
of light.

Ans- Students please note that there is change in the question:

CORRECT QUESTION: Why is your shadow shortest at noon and longest during
the morning and evening.
Ans- The size of our shadow changes according to the position of the sun.
It is long in the morning and later on goes on decreasing till noon time.
Shadows are shortest at noon. Later the length of the shadow goes on
increasing till evening.
