The Doña Hortencia Salas Benedicto National High School – Senior High School

(DHSBNHS – SHS) Supreme Student Government (SSG) officers, in line with the
Department of Education’s core values implemented the “Me and My Community
Serving Thee” project with an aim of enhancing the essence of being a student leader.
The said project was supposedly implemented within the months of July up to
November but because of sudden suspension of classes and other school activities, it
was extended up to December. This project was divided into two sub – categories which
looks forward to promote integrity and social responsibility.
PROMOTING INTEGRITY:
 “Me and My Community Soared for Honesty”
The “Me and My Community Soared for Honesty Project was implemented
to promote veracity among students and to develop and refine their integrity that
they may be able to take part in constructing a safe and honest campus adherent
to the Department of Education’s Core Values which are Maka – Diyos and
Makatao specifically. The students’ integrity and honesty were able to examine
through a social experimentation in where the officers intentionally left five
assorted wallets around the STEM Building, HUMSS Building, TVL Building,
School’s Oval and ABM Building with ₧ 80.00 ₧ 40.00 ₧ 100.00 ₧ 70.00 and
₧40.00, respectively. Actual footage and stolen pictures were secured before,
during and after the experiment. The students were expected to return the
wallets at the School’s Guidance Office anytime and any day after the application
of experiment.
The experiment, despite of the thorough preparation has weak points and
therefore led to the following conclusions: (a.) Students under Technical
Vocational and Livelihood track were afraid to approach the guidance personnel
regarding the turnover of the found wallet; (b.) students, after the experimentation
got a hint about the social experiment and were therefore obliged to return the
wallets out of fear and; (c.) the application of experiment did not follow the same
time span having a range of 30 minutes to 1 – day late.
Considering the downfalls of the experiment, this was repeated but with
revisions and restrictions. The wallets were from the SSG officers, teachers and
from the school’s assistant principal with a recorded total amount of money,
serial numbers of the money, personal information, contacts and a note
indicating where should the money be returned when found.
