F.O TRANSFER PROCEDURES


FO TRANSFER PROCEDURES
POINTS TO NOTE:
 Before doing any transfer operations check the F.O TRANSFER
LINE FINISHED DIAGRAM of our ship (SHIP NO:S-2622),
DRAWING NO: M2008, SHEET NO:08.
 Inform chief engineer regarding the transfer operation prior
operating any valves.
 We are using three grades of fuel
o ULSFO (< 0.1 % sulphur)
o VLSFO(< 0.5 % sulphur)
o LSMGO(< 0.1% sulphur)
 No.1 ULSFO (P) tank is the designated tank for ULSFO.
 No.1 F.O.T (S), No.2 F.O.T (P), No.2 F.O.T (S), No.3 F.O.T (P),
No.3 F.O.T (S) tanks are designated tank for VLSFO.
 No.1 M.D.O /M.G.O (P) and No.1 M.D.O /M.G.O (S) are
designated tanks for LSMGO.

These are the hydraulic valves which can be operated either from
ECR valve control panel or from SHIP’S OFFICE valve control
panel.

TANKS TO F.O SETTLING TANK:
 MAINTAIN BUNKER TANK TEMPERATURE 500C.
 WE USE F.O TRANSFER PUMP TO TRANSFER VLSFO
FROM BUNKER TANK TO F.O SETTLING TANK.
To transfer from no.2 (p) & no.3 (p) VLSFO bunker tank to F.O
settling tank
 Open consecutive bunker tank (p) hydraulic valves from
valve control panel.

valve control panel.

TRANSFER OPERATION FROM ULSFO BUNKER


TANK TO U.L.S.F.O SETTLING TANK:
 WHEN WE ARE ENTERING ECA, WE HAVE TO
COMPLETE THE CHANGE OVER OF ME, AE, BLR
CONSUMPTION TO ULSFO.
 CHANGE OVER TIMINGS CALCULATED BY FOBAS.
 WE WILL FILL ULSFO SETTLING TANK WHEN M/E
CHANGE OVER COMMENCES.
 BEFORE FILLING THE ULSFO SETTLING TANK, WE
HAVE TO FLUSH THE PIPELINES WITH 1.0 M3 OF
ULSFO TO F.O SETTLING TANK, TO AVOID CARRY
OVER OF VLSFO IN ULSFO SETTLING TANK.
 ULSFO SULPHUR CONTENT=0.065 %, VLSFO SULPHUR
CONTENT= 0.45%
 MAINTAIN BUNKER TANK TEMPERATURE 500C.
 WE USE D.O TRANSFER PUMP TO TRANSFER ULSFO
FROM BUNKER TANK 1(P) TO U.L.S.F.O SETTLING
TANK.
 ULSFO TRANSFER OPERATION CARRIED OUT BY D.O
TRANSFER PUMP IN MANUAL MODE.
 AFTER EVERY TRANSFER, WE STRIP THE LINE TO
AVOID CLOGGING OF FILTERS.
FLUSHING PROCEDURES:
 Prior flushing operation, fill the F.O SETTLING TANK up to
90 M3 of VLSFO.
 Run the F.O TRANSFER PUMP by closing the bunker tank
suction valve to strip the F.O transfer line.
 Isolate the F.O TRANSFER PUMP by closing the suction valve
(009VPN) and discharge valve (011VPN).
 Open bunker tank 1(p) hydraulic valves from valve control
panel.

 After flushing with 1.0 m of VLSFO change over the valve(013

VPN) to (063 VPN).


NOTE:
 After ECA EXIT, before putting the VLSFO in transfer
operation make sure we fill the ULSFO settling tank up to 48.0
m3.
 After finish with ULSFO transfer operations, we have to flush
the D.O transfer pump with LSMGO to make it ready for
further D.O transfer operations.
 Flushing oil quantity should be discussed with chief engineer
before handling.

TRANSFER OPERATION FROM LSMGO BUNKER


TANKS TO MGO/MDO SERVICE TANK:
 MAKE SURE D.O TRANSFER PUMP LINES ARE
FLUSHED WITH LSMGO.
To transfer from NO.1 MDO/MDO TK (P) LSMGO bunker
tank to MDO/MGO SERVICE TANK
 Open NO.1 MDO/MDO TK (P) LSMGO bunker tank
hydraulic valve from valve control panel.
