Google has bought Titan Aerospace, a maker of
solar-powered drones, saying it could help bring
Internet access to remote parts of the world as

Joe

An adaptation of the 1991 Larry Brown novel

of the same name, Joe tells the story of the
hard-living ex-con Joe Ransom (Nicolas Cage),
who is just trying to keep out of trouble. But
he then meets homeless 15-year old Gary,
played by Tye Sheridan, who badly needs
help. It leaves Ransom having to make the
heartbreaking decision of redemption or ruin.

FIVE FACTS:
1. The film is directed by David Gordon Green.
2. Joe was marked by tragedy when one of its
stars, real-life homeless man Gary Poulter, was
found dead in a shallow pool of water in
September 2013, prior to the film’s release.
3. Green made a deliberate decision to
cast stars like Nicolas Cage alongside up-
and-comers like Tye Sheridan and non-
professional actors such as Poulter.
4. The director has described the title
character as “a man exhibiting restraint.
There’s been plenty of Joe’s life that was
not bound by those chains, and here we’re
exploring a moment where he’s trying to
suppress some of those active instincts.”
5. Cage has said of Brown, author of the
original Joe novel: “Larry’s one of the great
success stories, in that he was living where he
was living and working in the fire department,
then decided one day to become a writer. He
writes a story and sends it to The New Yorker,
it gets rejected, and he writes another and
another. Fifteen years go by, nothing happens,
and then all of a sudden he becomes one of
the great voices of Southern literature. Just
Trailer amazing willpower and tenacity.”

The Nut Job

Gabriel Iglesias, Jeff Dunham, Maya Rudolph,
Liam Neeson and Katherine Heigl, madcap

mischievous squirrel Surly (Arnett) and his
mission to find the very tastiest nuts for
winter. His luck is in when he comes across a
whole store of the stuff - only for him and his
furry friends to have to foil the ruthless bank
robbers who own it.

FIVE FACTS:
1. The Nut Job is based on director Peter
Leponiotis’ award winning short film
Surly Squirrel.

4. Will Arnett has said: “What I’m most
proud about in this movie is that it does
have a lot of great messages not the least
of which is teamwork, that at the end of the
day, you can’t always do it on your own and
that you’ve got to rely on people that you
trust and you love, and that together you
can accomplish a lot.”
5. A sequel, The Nut Job 2, is already
scheduled for release in January 2016.

Fly Rasta
Ziggy Marley
Reggae superstar Ziggy Marley returns for his
fifth solo album, and it’s yet more evidence
that the Jamaican singer-songwriter has
come a long way since his early days with
family band the Melody Makers. As the title
indicates, it also sees a reconnection with
Marley’s Rastafarian roots. As is customary
with Ziggy’s own output, this is reggae with a
definite pop and rock flavor.

FIVE FACTS:
1. Ziggy Marley is the oldest son of
legendary reggae singer-songwriter and
guitarist Bob Marley.
2. Predictably, it was by sitting in recording
sessions with his father that the young
Ziggy first immersed himself in music.
3. Ziggy made his recording debut
alongside his father and siblings Cedella,
Stephen and Sharon on 1979’s “Children
Playing in the Streets”.
4. The new album is released just five days
before a marijuana holiday on April 20,
Marley commenting: “4/20 correlates with
a good time to release music. It correlates
with new things going on, a good date to
release my music. Everything’s working
together. Nature’s working with 4/20, and
I’m working with 4/20.”
5. Of the pop and rock flourishes that make
Fly Rasta more than just another reggae
album, Marley has said: “This is not my
father’s reggae. Reggae is also influenced
by other music. It didn’t just appear out of
nothing. This is Ziggy music. That’s what it
really is.”

Built on Glass
Chet Faker
Electronica musician Chet Faker won no
shortage of attention and acclaim for his
debut extended play, 2012’s Thinking in
Textures. He has since collaborated with other
artists, including Flume on the Lockjaw EP, and
it’s now finally time for the Australian’s debut
solo album, Built on Glass, which has already
been hailed as “an affecting, blues-inflected
rumination on love, loss, desire and emotional
desolation.”

Genre: Electronic
FIVE FACTS: Released: Apr 15, 2014
12 Songs
1. Built on Glass has already produced the Price: $7.99
Australian top three Indie hit “Talk Is
Cheap”.
86 Ratings
2. Chet Faker has also already appeared on
songs by Ta-ku, Say Lou Lou, Yujen and the
Coober Pedy University Band.
3. “Talk Is Cheap” is accompanied by a Toby
& Pete directed music video.
4. The artist was born Nicholas James Murphy.
5. However, confusion among music fans
with an already established musician
called Nick Murphy led him to adopt his
present stage name, a homage to jazz
legend Chet Baker.
