Outline the work breakdown structure (WBS) content and how it enables effective
project planning and control.
(80-120 words)
The Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) it’s a tool normally used on complex projects to

When using WBS the manager can have a more detailed scenario to work with timeframes
and analyse the project development and the deliverables as it goes. It points to each task
to be perfomend, the person assign to the task, the timeframe they will have and the progress
reach/expected in that timeframe (tracking). Also, helps to provide a clear understanment to
all personel involved about the project and to facilitate the understanding for stakeholders.

Methods Description (30-50 words/description)
Analogous Estimating This method relates to utilising informations from past
projects to estimate costs and timeframes for a new
project. Normally used when there’s a limitation on data
to reach an estimative for the new project.
Parametric Model Estimating The Parametric Model Estimating is a statistical tool based
on accuracy to calculate the resoucers, the timeframes
and the costs needed for an effective project. The method
it’s based on variables to give the most accurate
estimation possible.

Methods Description (30-50 words/description)
3 Point Estimating The 3 Point Estimating method it’s based on 3 major
points being Best Guess (BG), Pessimistic (P) and
Optimistic (O). The first one relates to the amount of work
involved in the task if a personel had to do it one hundred
times. The second one relates to the work the task might
need if negatives factors occur, and the last one it’s the
opposite being the amount of work the task may require if
the positive risks take place.
Expert Judgment Estimating The Expert Judgment Estimating it’s the method utilised

the estimation for the project planning relating to
resources, timelines, risks and further details.
Vendor Bid Analysis The Vendor Bid Analysis is a technique based on cost
analysis after the suppliers offer their bids and the project
manager comparer them to single out the best offer for that
project
Reserve Analysis The Reserve Analysis it’s based on the procedure to
estimate how much money needs to be reserve for
unexpected events.
Usually utilises past projects to estimate the costs for
unseen expenses.
Bottom-Up Analysis The Bottom-Up Analysis is method to determ the total
cost and time for a prokect. When combining all the
information and details of the project the project manager
can have a better look of all elements available
beforehand.

Question 4

Identify and describe three (3) tools or techniques used to manage project time
and summarise their applications.
Tool or technique Description and application (40-80 words/tool or
technique)
Gantt Charts The Gantt Chart it’s a tool that provides an overall visual
representation of the project showing the project
schedule, the personal assigned, the timeframes and the
progress. Normally used for small to medium projects
breaking down the tasks to be perfomed, helping to track
progress, identyfing risks areas and any delays on the

technique)
Network Diagrams Network Diagram is a visual tool used on project scheduling
where it shows the correlation between tasks and
timeframes, helping to identify any bottleneck or risks areas
in the project. They can help to have a more accurate
progress and adjusted timeline.
Critical Path Analysis The Critical Path Analysis it’s a technique used to help
identifying the most crucial taks within the project that will
have the most impact if not completed in the timeline
expected. Can also help to highlight the miminum amount
of time needed to complet the project.

Question 5

Identify and describe two (2) methods to evaluate the effectiveness of time
management.
Method Description
(30-50 words/method)
Time Tracking The time tracking method intells in determing the time that
will be spent on each task. The Project Manager can utilise
this method to compare the time set aside for the task and
the real time spent on it helping to identify bottlenecks and
risk areas to make effective adjustments to the project
reducing risks and waste of resources.
Schedule Performance Index The Schedule Perofrmance Index is a method to track the
project progress against the timelines setted before. It also
compares the value of completed work against the time set
aside for the work to be completed. It’s an important
method that helps projects managers to have and overall
assessment of the project and keep track of the milestones
during the project to make any changes needed in the way.

Question 6

Explain two techniques used to measure, record and report the progress of
activities.
Technique Explanation (30-50 words/ technique)
Gantt Charts The Gantt Chart it’s a tool that provides an overall visual
representation of the project showing the project schedule,
the personal assigned, the timeframes and the progress.

the tasks to be perfomed, helping to track progress,
identyfing risks areas and any delays on the deliverables.
Key Performance Indications The Key Performance Indicators are metrics used to
(KPIs) evaluate the effectiveness of the project. Normally used to
