Introduction A bank is a financial institution that is licensed to accept deposits and
provide loans to general public in the form of cash,credit and other
financial transactions. The banking sector in India functions under the
umbrella of Reserve Bank of India(RBI) which is a regulatory body and
facilitates other banks.Banks in India are classified as scheduled,non
scheduled,private sector banks,public sector banks and cooperative
banks.Major breakthroughs in the Indian banking system:
nationalization of banks in 1969 and 1980, emergence of new private
sector banks 1993,digital revolution in Indian banking sector.

Present Banking Scenario:


Indian banking had come a long way since India adopted
reforms path.Today Indian banks are as technology savvy
as their counterparts in developed countries.The
competitive and reform forces have led to emergence of
