ACTIVITY TITLE: Case Analysis
CASE STORY TITLE: No Read, No Write: Story of MangDeolito

Conflict Identification
Mang Deolito will have promotion and he need to take a qualifying exam. He is worried because
he doesn’t know how to read and write. Due poverty, Mang Deolito can’t go to school because
their income is just small. He’s knowledge is limited.

Plan of Action

In my view, it is imperative that the government takes significant steps towards addressing
poverty by generating more job opportunities for its citizens. This will provide people with the
financial means to support themselves and their families, including providing education for their
children. Unfortunately, poverty is a leading cause of children dropping out of school due to the
financial strain that it causes on families. Despite their desire to learn, the burden of paying for
school fees, books, uniforms, and other necessary expenses often forces families to prioritize
other basic needs, leaving education as a luxury that they cannot afford.

One solution to this problem is for the government to offer more scholarships to financially-
struggling students who are eager to learn. This would help alleviate the financial burden on
families, enabling their children to pursue an education and potentially break the cycle of
poverty. Additionally, the government should invest in building more public schools, especially in
underprivileged areas, to provide greater access to education and reduce the number of out-of-
school youth. By doing so, the government can take significant strides towards providing equal
educational opportunities for all and fostering a more prosperous future for the country.

Reflection
Education is a fundamental human right that should be accessible to everyone, regardless of their
socioeconomic status. Unfortunately, poverty often serves as a significant barrier to accessing
education, which perpetuates the cycle of poverty across generations.

It is crucial that governments and societies invest in education and poverty reduction initiatives
to provide opportunities for marginalized communities. Education is not only essential for
personal development and growth but also a powerful tool for economic and social progress. By
addressing poverty and promoting education, we can create a more equitable and just society,
where individuals have equal opportunities to thrive and reach their full potential.

It is crucial that we continue to advocate for education and poverty alleviation, pushing
governments and organizations to prioritize these initiatives. As individuals, we can also make a
difference by supporting local charities or volunteering our time to mentor or tutor children from
disadvantaged backgrounds. Every little bit helps, and together, we can work towards a more just
and equitable world.
