1. What is the function of the goods inspection area?
 The inspection house is divided into two zones
 Area for goods inspection
 Document processing area
 The cargo inspection area has the main function of inspecting the goods in the
red channel
 Through 2 ways:
- Using cargo scanners.
- Direct test:
+ Check rate:
a.Random inspection from 30-50% of the total quantity.
b.Can check any position.
+ Full inspection.
 At the same time can carry out the classification of goods.
For example, classifying shoju by electronic stamps:
a.<30, blue, yellow dots
b.From 30-60, dark brown, slightly red
c.>60, dark black
 Document handling area has the function of handling documents of red and
yellow channel goods
 Yellow channel goods can still become red channel goods if the papers are not
convincing enough.
2. During your trip, you visited a warehouse. What kind of warehouse is that?
Describe the process of receiving and loading goods into that warehouse by
forklift.
- At Tan Cang, Cat Lai has a total of 4 CFS warehouses (CFS warehouse is the
warehouse system used to collect, classify and separate retail goods in the
process of importing and exporting goods): warehouse No. 1 is used. Application
for oversized goods in terms of size and weight, warehouses 2 and 3 are used to
store imported goods, warehouse 5 is for export goods (Bonded warehouses are
arranged in common with export warehouses and warehouses). The bonded
warehouse will be located on the 2nd floor and all goods at the bonded warehouse
will be subject to customs supervision and directly managed by customs).
- The warehouse visited during the field trip at Tan Cang Cat Lai is
warehouse number 3, imported CFS warehouse, warehouse includes:
 Storage shelves: shelves in the warehouse with a maximum of 6 floors are
arranged in rows to make it easy for forklifts to move and arrange goods on the
shelves, each shelf has many cells with different codes. The goods in the
warehouse are arranged according to the principle of light when ascending (big
and heavy goods will be on the lowest floor and lightest goods will be on the top) to
ensure the safety of workers using the vehicle. lift and reduce the risk to the
shelves.
 Security system: cameras are spread outside and inside the warehouse to
investigate when problems occur with goods after goods are stored in the
warehouse as well as convenient for monitoring goods to minimize the The risk
occurs when the goods are stored at the warehouse.
 Fire protection system: the warehouse is fully equipped with fire fighting tools
from fire cabinets, fire extinguishers, fire hoses to automatic sprinkler systems to
ensure worker safety and at least damage to the goods in the warehouse when a
fire arises.
 Workers: include security guards at the warehouse door on patrol and forklift
operators in the warehouse (Because the temperature inside the warehouse is
often higher than outside, the only staff in the warehouse is male. gender). And
most importantly, the goods manager (who will be in charge of inventorying and
updating goods information by barcode scanner)
 Forklift: used to transport goods from outside to inside the warehouse and vice
versa. Each truck is equipped with barcode scanners (on the boxes or pallets
below the goods will have their own barcodes) and electronic boards that provide
the location of the goods to be placed.
 Warehouse doors: warehouse doors have two main functions: entrance and
exit doors. At the CFS warehouse, the entrance door is used for forklifts to take the
goods out to load on the trucks to deliver goods in Vietnam and the door is used
for retail goods to be removed from the container and moved to the warehouse by
forklift. In addition, in the process of goods being brought to the warehouse, staff
will check the quantity and scan the barcodes of the boxes.
 Goods: the goods in this warehouse are called LCL goods, which is understood
as retail, when you want to transport small packages that do not have enough
charge for a container, businesses and individuals will contact another
intermediary who is a collector. goods or called "Forwarder". This intermediary has
the function of consolidating goods from many other customers to combine into 1
container to save raw materials, resources and avoid wasting human resources. In
addition, after entering the warehouse, the goods will stay in the warehouse for 2
days or more to conduct a check on documents, procedures and the number of
orders.
- Describe the process of receiving and loading goods into that warehouse
by forklift.
 Warehouse regulations specify that the entrance door is vertical, the exit door is
specified as a horizontal row.
 The goods obtained after opening the container are transported by the truck to
the entrance of the warehouse, the goods are transported along the truck to the
warehouse.
 Next, the warehouse manager will use the barcode scanner on each box to
update the location of the goods that have arrived at the warehouse for the
customer and check the quantity of the goods.
 Then the forklift truck loads and brings to the shelf position marked by the
system on the machine screen available on the vehicle. (Each forklift is equipped
with an electronic screen that displays information on which shelf the order needs
to be placed).
 Goods are stored at the warehouse for 2 to 3 days to confirm the procedure. The
owner of the goods, after completing all the customs paperwork, inspects the
goods and will hand over this document to CFS when the goods are delivered on
time. In case the dossier is not delivered on time, the organization of the public
assembly inspection will not be able to proceed. CFS will notify the refusal to let
the lessee hire another ship and when there are enough documents, CFS will
perform an inspection for the packing of the exported goods.
 After the inspection is completed, the forklift will receive the data typed on the
electronic screen, showing the position information of the order that has been
checked to confirm the procedure is completed, will be transported by the forklift
truck. Moved out of the warehouse through the exit door and put on the truck for
transportation....

4. Which type of ship that Cat Lai port approves berthing? Why does Cat Lai
not allow ships with a larger capacity to dock and maximize their cargo
handling capacity?
- Due to the increasing demand for transportation, many different types of ships are
used and based on the capacity of the ships are classified into Small feeder, Feeder,
Feedermax, Panamax, Post Panamax, New Panamax (or Neopanamax) ships. ,
Ultra large container ship (ULCV).
- Cat Lai port allows many types of ships to dock. Feeder ships (medium size),
boats, barges, agency ships are allowed to enter the port.
- The transshipment port and barge port are two separate locations at Cat Lai Port.
With the transshipment port, the focus will be on transshipment ships with a tonnage
of about 3000 TEU; The purpose of a feeder vessel is to transship or unload cargo
from larger vessels whose tonnage is not suitable for the port. In addition, Cat Lai
Port has a barge berth (rice processing yard). As a specialized barge berth to reduce
the load for Cat Lai Port, it is tightly structured with rice barges so that these barges
can travel from the Mekong Delta - a region famous for its interlaced rivers - to Cat
Lai Port conveniently and easily. easier.
- The reason Cat Lai Port only accepts these types of ships because they are
designed in accordance with the characteristics of Cat Lai Port. If the size is not
suitable, the bumper will be difficult to get in and out and cause many consequences
that incur a lot of costs and the handling will also take longer. Another reason is that
when large ships and small ships anchor at the same port, it will cause difficulties for
navigation, when moving, large ships will create waves that affect small ships and
the navigability of vehicles. Moreover, when large and small ships enter and exit the
port, they will not be able to load and unload goods in time, causing traffic jams, and
depending on the water level, ships of relatively large weight can enter or exit the
port or not. If it is low, it is difficult for ships to dock. Cat Lai port is not a deep-water
port, so it does not accept large ships.
