A (Summarized with quotes) Website Article Discussing Different Pain Medication

Pain Medication-webMD

‘Pain medicines, whether they’re over-the-counter or prescription strength, can help you manage

chronic pain and other kinds of pain.

Both acetaminophen and NSAIDs reduce fever and relieve pain caused by muscle aches and

stiffness, but only NSAIDs can also reduce inflammation (swelling, heat, redness related to

an injury, and irritation). Acetaminophen and NSAIDs also work differently. NSAIDs relieve

pain by reducing the production of prostaglandins, which are hormone-like substances

that cause pain and inflammation. Acetaminophen works on the parts of the brain that receive

the "pain messages." NSAIDs are also available in a prescription strength that can be

prescribed by your doctor.

Prescription Pain Relievers

Prescription medicines to treat pain include:

 Corticosteroids

 Opioids

 Antidepressants

 Anticonvulsants (anti-seizure medications)

 NSAIDs

 Lidocaine patches
What Are Corticosteroids?

Prescription corticosteroids provide relief for inflamed areas of the body by easing swelling,

redness, itching, and allergic reactions. Corticosteroids can be used to treat allergies, asthma,

and arthritis. When used to control pain, they are generally given in the form of pills or

injections that target a certain joint. Examples include methylprednisolone, prednisolone,

and prednisone.

What Are Opioids?

Opioids are narcotic pain medications that contain natural, synthetic, or semi-synthetic opiates.

Opioids are often used for acute pain, such as short-term pain after surgery. Some examples of

opioids include:

 Codeine

 Fentanyl

 Hydrocodone-acetaminophen

 Morphine

 Oxycodone

 Oxycodone-acetaminophen

Opioids are effective for severe pain and do not cause bleeding in the stomach or other parts of

the body, as can some other types of pain relievers. However, they can be extremely addictive,

and doctors will try to find alternatives to prescribing them. It’s rare for people to become

addicted to opioids if the drugs are used to treat pain for a short period of time. But if used to treat

chronic pain, the risk of addiction is real and potentially dangerous.’

Fentanyl-song by: McCarfferty

Sunflower broke, stem is bent at an angle

If good boys smoke good drugs then consider me an angel

Snapback forward, tree house of horrors

Deal drugs to your kids and your parents pay for it

Disconnected families with cell phones at dinner

Teachers, Mom, Dad, God are all mad at the sinner

Draw pictures in my notebook when I'm supposed to be learning

Pop a Xanax before class to keep my thoughts from hurting

Write a suicide note when I get home wishing you all goodbye

If I am a ghost now, then why still can't I fly?

Always stare out my window and wish I were somewhere else

My depression likes to put my dreams on the shelf

Am I not cool like the other bands because I don't write about love?

Art is supposed to scare you and I've got blood in my lungs

I'm not sad but I'm not exactly happy yet either

Unless I live forever, I have to keep writing this shit

My biggest fear is that I will be forgotten

The grass will grow over my gravestone and nobody will bother

You know the beautiful thoughts that you always think?

Nobody will hear them again

And I will never be your alibi

And I will never be your alibi

And I will never be your alibi

And I will never be your alibi

And I will never be your alibi

And I will never be your alibi

And I will never be your alibi

And I will never be your alibi

Poem By Fannieson

I pop pills now out in the open,

none of that hiding them in the basement

in that old icebox my old man was saving

as an art deco piece he planed to use someday.

Line up them brown drug store vials of

prescribed dope scripted to me, just about

anywhere there’s a flat surface.

Legal Drugs prescribed by doctors who

just wanna suck as much as they can

out of my medicare plan, by having me.

Ready and willing to come back to them,

cause. They’ll write me a script for what

I just have to hint I want,

for any number of pains us old folks get.

once a dope head always a dope head
