From the case study "Ang Kwento Ni Rosario" that was posted in Module 3. Make
a case analysis that answers the question "Why Did Rosario Die?" What factors led
to the death of Rosario? (use the SDH framework as your guide)

Ang Kwento ni Rosario is a typical Filipino story that are commonly seen in
the Philippine settings. It talks about the reality of how a family living under poverty
struggles and fight to survive the daily needs of life. It’s not new to us that many
of our countrymen dies because of poverty, corruption, and other socio-
economic issues.
The story is very uncertain to tell us how Rosario die, many factors will come
up to the reason of her death. It is maybe because of poverty (lack of sufficient
wage of her parents), lack of factual health information and education, poor
sanitary environment, lack of nutritious food (malnutrition), and lack of
government funds and support.
This story enlightens us to expose the damaging factors that would
compromise the health of everyone. First, we will base all of it in the social class
status of a person, as once you are on a poverty line, having a good medical
assistance is near to impossible. Due to poverty, lack of good education and
knowledge about simple diseases and how to prevent it was neglected, and in
this case both parents are not knowledgeable of postnatal care. Lack of
education will also lead to unemployment or rather having job but has less than
the sufficient wage for a family.
In this case, good governance and social policy could help those in need.
Sadly, in this story the local government unit didn’t have the resources to help and
alleviate the community health condition due to corruption. The national
government also fails to support the local public hospitals on their need for
equipment and medicine and its constituents to implement a better public health
assistance and spread of misinformation about health.
To conclude, a better governance that strengthens the health, education,
as well as available job opportunities would provide the needs of every family,
thus it would promote a healthy community with confident families which knows
how to educate themselves in terms of health and prevent infectious diseases.
