Godzilla: King of the Monsters (2019) created by Legendary Entertainment 4.

3/5
In Godzilla: King of the Monsters, Dr Emma (Vera Farmiga) is abducted by a group of terrorists who go by the
name of ‘Apex’. They want Emma to release a super monster which is known as ‘King Ghidorah’ or ‘Monster
Zero’ by using a device known as the ‘Orca’ (A device that can communicate to the titans) as they want to take
over the world. This two hour twelve-minute-long movie shows all of Godzilla’s attempt’s at stopping Monster
Zero. Halfway through the movie Godzilla even dies! But he is brought back to life by a nuclear bomb, which
give him radiation. However Dr. Ishirō Serizawa (Ken Watanabe) sacrifices himself to deliver the nuclear bomb
to Godzilla.
As with a lot of Monster verse movies, there is a lot of action and fighting involved in them. This movie is no
different. These nail-biting fights occur in various places around the world, going from the city to a top of a
volcano. There is hardly any jargon in this movie and even if there is, they explain thoroughly what it means.
The only downside to the script is that there are many sub plots. For example, one of the sub plots is about Dr
Emma’s former husband Kyle Chandler (Mark Russell), who had recently been divorced. It has a solid twenty
minutes explaining how Kyle joined ‘Monarch’ (An organization dedicated to saving the titans) and Emma was
abducted into ‘Apex’, while also having a kid.
The main characters in this movie, including Dr Emma, Kyle Chandler, Madison Russell (Millie Bobby Brown)
and Charles Dance (Alan Jonah) played an amazing role in the movie. Their acting was incredible and very
fitting to the theme of the movie. They made the movie what it is. For example, Charles Dance is portrayed as
the leader of Apex, he was amazing at keeping his evil mindset throughout the movie. The cast for this movie
were very wise choices.
The technical side of this movie was insanity! There so many special effects in the movie that there were too
many to count. One example of a key special effect was when Godzilla charges up his ‘atomic blast’ to then
shoot it out of his mouth. Another one is when King Ghidorah charges electricity and like Godzilla shoots it out
of his mouth. To be able to be able to do CGI at that level is immensely difficult. I do not know how the editors
pulled it off. Imagine trying to make a building or base explode. Even the colours when Mothra, another titan,
looks at the camera, she looks so beautiful. This is the work of the editors.
Everything said, Godzilla: King of the Monsters is highly entertaining and action-packed. This movie is
designed to suit an audience who prefers fantasy and science fiction. The movie can be watched by young
children, but parental guidance is recommended as there is a lot of action in the movie. Overall, this movie is a
piece of art. Anmol Singh
