In the start of pandemic, classes shift from face to face through virtual. Mrs.

Layosa
already mastered block plan for the whole quarter, Months passed by and a lot of adjustment
had been done by herself and all students. She encountered several challenges but to sum it up
all going smoothly, not until the third quarter of the school year, this happened when the
principal decided to extend the class hours from 45 minutes to a full one hour. This happened
without any proposal to the teachers, the principal just posted a new schedule without prior
notice resulting to numerous problems in both Mrs. Layosa and students like the following :

 Excessive screen time for both teacher and student.

 Need revise block plan to be suited for additional 15 minutes
extension.
 All classes’ schedules need to be adjusted.
 More internet data needed for class means extra expense for the
parents.
 Extended hours and may cause physical and mental preparations as
wells as trouble in classroom management.
 Teachers some time had conflicts with overlapping schedules with
others.
The Six Thinking Hats

Make another block plan that will be

suited for extended class hours,
prepare the student for extra long
hours of studying communicate with
co-teachers to sync the schedule of
every class.
‘’Mrs. Layosa just do what the
memorandum say’s because it is
central office. Apparently both
teacher and students will adjust
onto it in no time.’’

Mrs. Layosa talks with her co-teachers

to write a petition to the principal
about the problem that this schedule
change was causing. List down all the
problems encountered and ask
him/her to stick the 1st and 2nd quarter
systems of schedule.
Lessen the students’ activities like
quizzes, activity sheets, and
assignments so that the student will
can focus in the lessons and have
more family time. It will also be a
great help for the teacher.

Make an action research about the effects of

this extended class hours and how it negatively
affects the performance of both teachers and
students then submit it to the principal
Mrs. Layosa stick to her usual class
schedule and just waste the excess 15
minutes for her class to rest and
prepare for the next class out of
compassion.
