Rationale:
• The Barangay Tanods, as public safety officers,
play a critical role in building a strong republic.
Part II
• Upon instruction of the President Gloria Macapagal
Barangay Tanod Skills Enhancement
Arroyo, Secretary Joey Lina launched last year the
Project Barangay Tanods Professionalization Program
through the conduct of basic courses via the Tanod
Radyo Aralan Program on governance and basic
skills training in community policing and public
safety.

• This project is part of the continuing


professionalization of the Tanods which focuses on
skills development through a combination of
capacity building interventions.

Objectives: Project Components


At the end of project, the participants will be able to:
 Phase I – Preparatory Work and Organization
 Discuss the structure and functions of barangay of Management and Training
government and relate their duties and
responsibilities to the overall governance system; Teams.
 Perform basic skills needed in the performance of  Phase II – Field Implementation
their duties and functions in such areas as crime  Phase III– Monitoring and Evaluation
prevention, disaster management, “117” service
responder, first aid and fire prevention; and
 Organize the tanod brigades into federation to
institutionalize and strengthen it as a BPOC arm and
force multiplier of the police in the overall
