III. Procedure

Teacher’s Activity Students Activity

A. Preliminaries
1. Greetings
“Good morning class!” “Good morning Sir!”

“Please stand up for the prayer.” ( All students will stand and pray)

“Ok! Before we take your set Please pick ( The students will arrange their chairs
up the pieces of papers and arrange your and pick up the pieces of paper)
chair properly. Ok you now take your set.”

“Ok class may I know who absent today!” “No one Sir”

“Good Job! maintain that perfect

attendance.”

2. Activity / Review/ Recap

“Before we proceed to our new lesson
let’s have a recap.” ( our last topics is all about set’s)
“What was our last topic?’ “Set is a group of numbers and object.”
“Very good! What about sets?”
• Motivation

“Ok today we will have another interesting lesson

but before that let us first state the objective this (The student is listening attentively.)
lesson
1. Perform subtracting of integers
2. Relate integers in real world application”

“Ok! Class let me share these ideas about

subtracting of integers for example, Kim goes (One of the students raised their hand.)
shopping with 50 pesos. She buys a new 12+6-50 = -32
notebook for 12 pesos and one ball pen for 6
pesos. How much money does she have left?”

“Exactly!”

“Before we go on, with our lesson. Let us first

have an activity. I will group you into two groups
please count 1 to 2. I will give a simple paragraph
then those whose group raised their paper first;
those will have a point.”
“Ok! Are you ready for our games?” “Yes Sir!”

“Molly goes shopping with 100 pesos. She buys a (Group 1, who first raise their answer.)
bread for 20 pesos. How much money does she 100-20=80
have left?”

“Ok! Group 1, Correct!”

“Here’s our second paragraph.”

“Jenny goes to the market with 500pesos. She (Again, Group 1, who first raise their answer.)
buys a dress for 150 pesos. How much money 500-150= 350
does she have left?

“For our last paragraph.”

“Ian visits to the church with 100pesos. He (Group 2, who first raise their answer.)
donates 30.00 for the donation. How much 100 – 30 = 70
money does he have in his pocket?”

“Ok, thank you Group 2.”

“Here’s the result our today’s activity.”

“The winner for today is the group 1!”

B. Lesson Proper/Discussion
3. Lesson proper
 Subtracting integers rules
 Change the subtraction problem into an
addition problem by adding the opposite and (Students listen)
then use the rules of addition
 If the sign is the same, add the absolute
values and use the sign of both integers.
If the sign is different, subtract the absolute
values and use the sign of the number with
the larger absolute values.
21-(-17)=38 -14-(-36)=22 21-42=21

“Ok! Let’s try some examples!”

-90+ (-130) =? (The student are raised their hand)
“Who wants to try?” Student 1: -90+(-130)=-220

“Very good!”

“Another Example” (The student are raised their hand)

-5-6=? Students 2: -5-6= -11

“Excellent!”

“Now who want to give an example then we’re (The student are raising their hands.)
going look from your classmate who will solve Student 3: -60+8=?
That number.” Yes?”

“Oh! Thank you!”

“Who can give me an answer?” Student 4: -60+8= 52

“Ok thank you, another one?” Yes?” (The student are raising their hands.)
Student 5: -11-(-11) =?
“Thank you!”

“Now, what is the answer?” (The student is raising their hands.)

Students 6: -11-(-11)= 0
“Another set of examples”
-12-(-4) =? “Sir!”
-12-(-4) = -8

“Ok that’s correct!” “Sir the answer would still 8 but the sign would
“Oh, very well said! Thank you!” negative due the rules of subtraction.”

C. Application

In your seats, make at least 3 example which

can be applicable in real life situations.

I will give you 5 minutes to do your task.

(After 5 minutes)

Pass your paper, and I will be the one to Yes Sir!

check it later.
D. Generalization
I know you’ve learned a lot from this discussion,
so now “Subtracting of integers can be written as
1. What is subtracting of integer? the addition of the opposite number.”

Well said!

2. Who can explain what is Integer?

“Integers are the combinations of positive
“Excellent!” and whole number.”

3. How can we subtract to find the different of

integers?” “The answer will depend on the largest
integers or numbers.”

“Great job!”

IV. Evaluation
Since you now have full of knowledge, get your ball pen and 1 whole sheet of paper and answer the
problem below.

Direction: Subtract the following integers. Answer

1. 25+ (-7) = 1. 25+(-7)= 18
2. (-8+7)+ 5= 2. (-8+7)+ 5= 4
3. 73-25 = 3. 73-25 =48
4. (-8)+ 146= 4. (-8)+ 146= 138
5. (-4)- (-10) = 5. (-4)-(-10)= 6
6. 34+ (-8) = 6. 34+(-8)=26
7. 100-20= 7. 100-20= 80
8. 54-7= 8. 54-7= 47
9. -70-(-13) = 9. 70-(-13)= -57
10. 220-80= 10. 220-80= 140

V. Assignment
1. Create your own example on subtraction of integers.
