These variations of the opening themes become the new themes of the two faster sections of the piece. Once | had the first fast passage completed, Iknew these ideas would reappear final portion of the work Since the fast sections are aggressive and abit sinister, Iset out to create a contrasting ballad section (in a major key) that would separate these sections and allow for expressive playing from the ensem- ble.
