1.13 Read the text from a presentation by an Electrolux employee welcoming a group of
visitors and complete the company data file.

Worldwide turnover: ____________________ million
Global divisions: Consumer Durables _______________ % of sales

(Figures for 2017) Turnover= the total value of business done in a year.
First, I'd like to welcome you all to Electrolux, and give you a brief introduction to the company before we begin our tour.
As you know, Electrolux is a Swedish company with its head office here in Stockholm. Now I expect when you hear the name
'Electrolux' you probably think of a refrigerator - or a fridge as we usually call it - or maybe a vacuum cleaner, and in fact these were
the company's first two products.
Electrolux was founded in 1919 and started as a company in 1921 when it produced the world's first vacuum cleaner. Four years
later, in 1925, it produced its first refrigerator, and these are still two of its best-known products. But today the company is very
different from what it was in 1921. What you perhaps don't know is that it now owns many well-known consumer brands, including
AEG, Zanussi, Frigidaire, Flymo, and Husqvarna and Partner, and this makes it the world's largest producer of powered appliances
for kitchen, cleaning, and outdoor use.
Today it employs 55,692 people and sells its products in more than 150 countries. Its worldwide turnover in 2017 was 14,650 million
US dollars.
It has two global divisions, called Consumer Durables and Professional Products. Seventy-five per cent of the company's sales
comes from the Consumer Durables Division. This division includes the appliances we have in our homes, for example cookers,
vacuum cleaners, and washing machines.
Professional Products includes much larger appliances, for example food service equipment for hotels and restaurants, and outdoor
products for the garden.
Right, that's all I'll say about the company for the moment. I hope that gives you a general idea to start with. I'll be happy to answer
any questions, then we'll begin our tour ...

Good morning, everyone. Thank you all for coming. My name’s Nicky Hunter.
I’m a director of a medium‐sized coffee chain, Fiestatime.

I’ve divided my presentation into three sections.
Firstly, I’ll say a few words about our company.
Secondly, I’ll describe my duties.
And finally, I’ll talk about our plans for the future.
I’m happy to take questions at the end of this presentation.
OK. Let’s start.
Fiestatime’s head office is in Chicago, and our flagship store is in New York. We own more than 200 stores
across the country. Our outlets sell coffee, coffee drinks and pastries. Most of our coffee beans come from
Brazil.
Now, let me add a few figures. As you can see on the following slide, we have 3,000 employees, and our
turnover is approximately 50 million US dollars. Our profit is about 12.2 million.
Now, about our main competitors. They are Starbucks, Dunkin’ Donuts and, of course, McDonald’s!
Which are my duties in the company? Well, I’m responsible for new business.
My job is to help the company grow and to hire and supervise managers for our new outlets.
We're expanding fast.
Finally, a few words about our future plans. Next year, we are planning to open at least 10 new stores on
the West Coast. We’ll start by opening a store in San Francisco and after that, we’ll expand gradually to the
rest of the country.
Well, thanks very much for listening to my talk. Are there any questions?
