Dispersion
of light
Dispersion of light is the
separation of white light into its
component colors, forming a
spectrum, when it passes through
a prism. Each color bends at a
different angle due to differences
in their wavelengths.

Formation
of rainbow
Rainbows are formed when sunlight
interacts with water droplets in the
air. The light undergoes refraction
and reflection inside the droplets,
causing the separation of colors and
the formation of circular bands.

Shallowing
effect
The shallowing effect occurs when light
waves transition from one medium to
another, such as from water to air. The
refraction of light at the water-air interface
makes submerged objects appear shallower
and closer to the surface than they actually
are.

Mirage
Mirage is a visual illusion caused by the
bending of light rays in layers of air with
varying density. It occurs when air near the
ground rapidly cools with elevation, creating
deceptive images such as objects appearing
to originate below the heated surface or land
resembling a body of water.
