Exercise 2: Questions for Reflections

1. In your opinion, what constitute a good life?

From my perspective, living a good life means being satisfied with your
surroundings and your possessions, such as spending time with people who make
you happy, joyful, and give your life meaning. To lead a beautiful life, we must be able
to see things more clearly and focus on how life works rather than what it offers.
Doing good deeds for others, living a moral and compassionate life, being successful,
and having a sense of purpose in life are frequently characteristics of a good life.

2. What does Aristotle say about the good life? Does it still stand in the contemporary
world?

As Aristotle says, “all human activities aim at some good. Every art and human
inquiry, as well as every action and pursuit are thought to aim at some good; and for
this reason, the good has been rightly declared to be that which all things aim; and
for this reason, both the mamy and the educated call it happiness, and believe that
living well and doing well are the same as being happy.” His idea of a good life—
which includes happiness—is crucial in today’s environment, and I concur with him
that everything is heading in the right direction. It just manifests itself in numerous
ways depending on the person and the situation. According to him, anything we do
will result in a happy life as long as we wish it. For me, happiness signifies fullness. If
we attain a sense of contentment, which is what a good life is, we will be satisfied
with everything life has to offer.

3. How is the progress of science and technology a movement towards a good life?

Science and technology indicate the world’s bright future, in which all scientific and
technological advancements contribute to a good living where each invention and
achievement promotes the goal of enhancing people’s lives, and it empowers the
world by giving physical and intangible answers to difficulties that enable us to
change the world. Aside from them, science ad technology are the primary drivers of
global productivity. It stimulates worldwide innovation in a variety of disciplines and
it all contributed to a higher standard of life for society. There are more reasons to
believe that advancements in science and technology contribute to a better
existence, but the main line is that discovery never stops, and everyday is a chance to
learn something new.
