CEBU, Philippines — The Department of Education (DepEd) Lapu-Lapu City

Division has reactivated the Junior Police Barkada Kontra Droga which was
implemented by former mayor Arturo Radaza and was continued during the
time of the latter’s wife, now Representative Paz Radaza.

The former lady mayor in her speech during the event said that she is thankful
to DepEd for its reactivation as they see the urgent need for groups who will
look into the safety and security of the pupils and students inside the schools
and even as they leave the premises if in time normal classes will soon be
open.

Those tapped as junior police are presidents and vice presidents of the
Supreme Student Government of the city’s ten school divisions.

Paz said that the junior police program is a development of the youth and
instill in them their important part in the maintenance of peace and order, and
in nation building in general as well as incorporating in the learning process of
the youth in general these values and responsibility and be able to prepare
them for their future.

Paz believed that by tapping groups and communities, the children, the youth
and the adults in the ground level development will definitely be felt.

She said that the reactivation is timely as the city is continuously developing,
its population is increasing by an average of four percent annually, making it
one of the fastest growing cities in the region.

“Kining junior police dili lamang mao ang pagresponde sa krimen sulod sa
eskwelahan, o pagseguro sa seguridad sa mga kabataan. Kun dili apil na niini
ang pag-train sa inyo unsaon pag-handle sa mga stressful nga mga situation
o apil na kini gitawag og therapeutic communication,” Paz said.

She said that the reactivation of the junior police is not just the rebirth of this
group but also the reaffirmation of their commitment for the youth and for the
peace and order of the city.

“Atong giila ang ilang papel ug ilang kapasidad nga naa silay mahimo alang
sa kalinaw ug kahapsay sa atong syudad. In fact, our youth, our students are
in the best position in the maintenance of peace and order especially in our
schools and among their peers and fellow students,” said the lady legislator in
her speech during the event that was held at Pajo National High School
covered court.
She said that the youth and the students are in the best position in the
maintenance of peace and order especially in the schools and among their
peers and fellow students.

“Nagtoo ko nga ilalom sa partisipatibo nga konsepto sa pagpatuman sa

kalinaw, kinahanglan nato i-involve ang mga estudyante. We have to involve
our subjects as participants,” she said.

The congresswoman added that the students, under the able guidance of their
teachers, advisers, and partners from relevant agencies, are abled and
dependable to police themselves and help their fellow students away from
conflict

GLIMPSE OF HOW WE STARTED THE CREATION OF THE JUNIOR POLICE.

I remember in 2017 when we had our Training Workshop for Junior Police. Nindot kaayo to nga training sa
Today, I am thankful that the Division of Lapu-Lapu is reactivating the Junior Police and Barkada Kontra
Droga as we see the urgent need for groups who will look into the safety and security of our pupils and
students inside the school and even as they leave the premises if in time normal classes will soon be open.
We are a City that is continuously developing. Our population grew an average of four percent annually,
making it one of the fastest growing Cities in the region.
I believe that if we tap groups and communities - the children, the youths and the adults in the ground level
development will definitely be felt.
You will be equipped with this skill because I see its need kay common na nga problema sa mga estudyante
kaning gitawag ug stress ug depression.
Kaninyong tanan, Goodluck!
