Evaluation criteria for Architecture

Portfolio and Letter of Motivation give the following profile of the applicant:

• Motivation
The applicant demonstrates strong interest in the Architecture MSc programme
and presents convincing reasons for choosing the programme at TU Delft.
• Communication and graphic skills
The applicant demonstrates appropriate communication skills and the ability to
express key ideas and concepts in text, drawings and other media.
• Spatial design, creativity and composition skills
The applicant demonstrates appropriate design skills and concept development,
and is able to apply them into coherent morphological and typological
compositions across a variety of spatial, scalar and programmatic complexities.
• Aesthetic and architectural sensibility
The applicant demonstrates aesthetic and architectural sensibility and the
capacity to integrate these into comprehensive architectural project proposals.
• Academic and disciplinary knowledge
The applicant demonstrates academic curiosity, critical and open approaches to
the discipline of architecture, expressed through a solid command of theoretical
concepts, analytical skills, historical and design precedents.
• Integration of research and design (methodology)
The applicant demonstrates the capacity to explore different research methods
and is able to critically integrate research outputs with design proposals.
• Integration of technology and design (materialisation)
The applicant demonstrates the capacity to develop projects with a critical
integration of architectural design and building technology, including relevant
technical, constructive and material components.

All criteria must be met. Failing on one of them can lead to a rejection.
