A. Reviewing previous lesson or
Presenting the new lesson Review
A. What particular unit do we use in measuring the length, width and
the height?
-Cubic meter and cubic centimeter

What instrument do we used in measuring length, width and

height?
-Non-Standard Unit and Standard Unit

Teacher shows real object and let the pupils identify what unit of
measure and instrument to be used.

B. Establishing a purpose for

the lesson Teacher shows to the Class empty box

Ask the following questions to the pupils:

 Who among you has empty boxes at home like this?
 What did you do to these empty boxes?
 Is there any way to make these boxes useful?
-Teacher let the pupils measure the dimension of the box using measuring
tools.

Volume – is the amount of space a solid figure occupies.

A Solid figure is a three-dimensional shape which has a length,
width and Height

Present this situation in the class

Charo has a rectangular empty container, measuring 10 cm by 4cm by 3

C. Presenting examples / cm. What is the volume?
instances of the lesson

The teacher will show to the class how to get the volume of a prism by showing
the formula V = L x W x H
 Where V is the VOLUME, L is LENGTH, W is WIDTH and H is the
HEIGHT and it is express in cubic units.
Find out the volume of Chinita’s cube.

1. What is the volume of Chinita’s

cube?
2. Compare the volume of Charo’s
D. Discussing new concepts 5 cm
rectangular container and Chinita’s
and Practicing new skills #1 cube. Which is bigger?
3. How do you find the volume of a
5 cm prism?
5 cm

Group Activity
Present the Rubrics to the Class.
Divide the class into two groups.
Each Group will be given real object to measure and find the volume of the
object. Each member of the group will be assigned as:
Recorder: to record all important information.
Measurer: Double checks all measurements and calculations.
E. Discussing new concepts Reporter: Shares all pertinent information with the class.
and Practicing new skills #2  Each group will receive a copy of the problem, a one-fourth sheet manila
paper and a marker.
 The outputs should be posted to be used during the presentation.
 After all the groups have finished, ask a member of the group to report their
output.
 After the presentation of the groups,
ask: How did you find the activity?
Did you get the same value for the volume of the figure?

F. Developing mastery (Leads to Fill Me

Formative Assessment 3) Teacher calls some pupils to fill in the missing data to complete the table.
Find the volume of each solid figure given its dimension.
LENGTH WIDTH HEIGHT VOLUME
10 cm 5 cm 2 cm
7 cm 2 cm 4 cm
2 cm 3 cm 4 cm
1m 3m 10 m
3m 3m 3m
G. Finding Practical applications Each Group will go to each station to solve the problem.
of concepts and skills in daily
living Mr. Vincent ask Justine and his friend Nico to put vinegar and soy
sauce to the container to create a mixture. What is the total volume
of the mixture?
NOTE: Containers are posted in each station.

H. Making generalizations and Ask the pupils the following questions:
abstractions about the lesson  What is the formula in finding the volume of a prism?
The formula in finding the volume of a prism is V = L x W x H
Where V is Volume, L is LENGTH, W is WIDTH and H is HEIGHT.
