Generic Direct Connect Spo2 Cable Wiring Diagram For Philips

SureSigns VM8

This generic Spo2 sensor measures Pulse rate and oxygen level in the blood. It does
so by using One red LED, IR LED and a photodiode, which receives the light emitted
by the two LEDs after passing through the finger of the patient.

Pin description:
Pin 1) RED/IR LED Negative/Positive (Wire color: Red)
Pin 2) RED/IR LED Negative/Positive (Wire color: Orange)
Pin 4) Photodiode Positive (Wire color: White)
Pin 6) Photodiode Negative (Wire color: Black)
Pin 5 and 7) Cable Detection Resistor (2KΩ)
Pin 3 and 8) Not connected

Connection Diagram:

- RED LED Positive (Anode) to Pin 2

- RED LED Negative (Cathode) to Pin 1
- IR LED Positive (Anode) to Pin 1
- IR LED Negative (Cathode) to Pin 2
- Photodiode (RED/IR Receiver) (Cathode) to Pin 6
- Photodiode (RED/IR Receiver) (Anode) to Pin 4
- Cable Detection Resistor(2KΩ) Between Pin 5 and 7

Notes:
- The voltage across cable detection resistor is 3.2V
- The voltage to turn the Red LED is 2.8V
- The output voltages of the photodiode (RED/IR Receiver) are:
o Less than 100mV, when a finger is placed between the sensor and the RED/IR LED
o More than 200mV, the there is no finger between the sensor and the RED/IR LED
