CORPORATIONS
Global corporations, also known as multinational
corporations, are large businesses that operate in
multiple countries around the world. These corporations
have a significant presence in various regions and
markets, often generating revenue and profits on a
global scale.
EXAMPLES of GLOBAL CORPORATIONS
1. Apple Inc. – A technology company that designs, develops, and sells consumer
electronics, computer software, and online services.
2. Microsoft Corporation – A technology company that develop, licenses, and
sells computer software, consumer electronics, and personal computers.
3. The Coca-Cola Company – A beverage company that produces and
distributes non-alcoholic beverages, including Coca-Cola, Sprite, and Fanta.
4. Toyota Motor Corporation – An automotive manufacturer that produces and
sells cars, trucks, and other vehicles.
5. Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. – A technology company that produces and sells
consumer electronics, including smartphones, TVs, and home appliances.
6. McDonald’s Corporation – A fast-food company that operates a chain
of restaurants serving burgers, fries, and other fast-food items.
7. Procter & Gamble Co. – A consumer goods company that produces and
sells a wide range of household and personal care products, including Tide
laundry detergent, Pampers diapers, and Crest toothpaste.
8. Nike, Inc. – A sports apparel and footwear company that designs,
develops, and sells athletic shoes, apparel, and accessories.
9. Adidas – The company has a diverse portfolio of brands and subsidiaries.
Adidas has a strong global brand recognition and sponsors numerous sports
teams, events, and athletes around the world.
GLOBAL CORPORATIONS IN PHILIPPINES
1. Procter & Gamble Philippines – is a multinational consumer goods corporation that has
operations in over 80 countries. Their Philippines office is located in Makati City and
serves as their headquarters for the Asia Pacific region.
2. Coca - cola FEMSA Philippines – Coca - cola FEMSA is the largest franchise bottler of
Coca - cola products in the world. Their Philippines office is located in Taguig City and
they have operations throughout the country.
3. Jollibee Foods Corporation – Jollibee is a Filipino multinational fast food chain that has
expanded internationally. They have over 1,400 stores worldwide, including locations in
the United States, Canada, and the Middle East.
4. Ayala Corporation – Ayala Corporation is a conglomerate that has interest in real
estate, banking, telecommunications, and more. They are one of the largest
companies in the Philippines and have significant presence throughout Southeast Asia.
5. San Miguel Corporation – San Miguel is a diversified conglomerate with interest in food
and beverage, packaging, power, and infrastructure. They are one of the largest
companies in the Philippines and have a presence in over 100 countries.
ADVANTAGES:

• Multinational corporations provide an inflow of capital. Most


multinational corporations have their headquarters in the
developed world. They rely on the resources of mature markets to
maintain their supportive revenue streams.
• These corporations provide local employment. Multinationals come
in, offer higher wages (which are still low compared to global
standards), then shift the standard of living.
• These corporations enforce minimum quality standards. Most
multinationals rely on vendors for their distribution work.
DISADVANTAGES:

• These corporations don’t always leave profits local.


• These corporations create one-way raw material resource
consumption.
• These corporations encourage political corruption.
• These corporations support “sweatshop” labor.
• These corporations put other companies out of business.
