Dancers audition songs

“When you are READY you never have to GET ready”

Types of songs you should have in your Book, ready to go for an audition:

1. Disney Song

2. Dinsey – esque song (useful for actual Disney auditions) e.g. The Little Princess,
Anastasia

3. Contemporary Pop Up-tempo Song

4. Contemporary Pop Ballad

5. Pop / Rock Song

6. 80’s Pop song

7. 50s/60s pop song

8. Musical theatre ballad (Contemporary, post 1960s)

9. Musical Theatre Uptempo / Character

10. Pre 1960s Song (Rogers and Hammerstein, Gershwin etc., good to have a
contrasting Up tempo and ballad from this genre)

11. Broadway Standard song – e.g. Andrew Lloyd Webber / Claude Michele
Schoenberg (Cats, Les Mis, Chess etc.)

12. Kander and Ebb (Chicago, Cabaret etc)

13. Sondheim
(an uptempo and a ballad is a good idea!)
*These can overlap, e.g. your pop/rock song might be from the 1980s, but ensure you have
at least 4 songs in your book of contrasting style*
