3 Job Summary An assistant director of nursing (ADON) is
responsible for the nursing team and quality of
patient service in the absence of the director of
nursing. The ADON supervises, analyzes, delegates,
and evaluates nursing activities and ensures patient
comfort and care.
4. Duties and responsibilities :
4.1.The ADON is responsible for monitoring nursing staff, nursing
activities, and patient care, as well as ensuring nursing activities is
in compliance with federal, state, and local standards.

4.2.A successful ADON is responsible, attentive, knowledgeable, and

provides high-quality care to patients.

4.3.Helping to hire, train, teach, and monitor nurses.

4.4.Managing clinical operations and developing care plans.

4.5.Preparing the daily schedule and planning shifts.
4.6.Ensuring nursing staff follows departmental procedures and
policies.
4.7.Assisting in budget preparation and expense management.
4.8.Conducting patient rounds and addressing complaints.
4.9.Evaluating the performance of the department and recommending
improvements.
4.10. Scheduling staff meetings for patient updates, issues, and
recommendations.
4.11. Ensuring compliance with state, federal, and local standards.
4.12. Keeping patient and employee records updated and accurate.

5. Special skills :

5.1.Excellent oral communication and interpersonal skills to interact

positively with staff, patients and patients’ families
5.2.Extensive knowledge of nursing best practices and federal, state
and local healthcare laws
5.3.Strong written communication skills to compile reports and write
evaluations
5.4.Analytical skills to interpret diagnostic information and financial
data
5.5.Coaching skills to help nurses continue to improve their
performance
5.6.Time management and multitasking skills to complete many tasks
throughout the day
5.7.Problem-solving skills to overcome obstacles in delivering patient
care and maintaining staff coverage
5.8.Ability to use electronic health records, word processing,
spreadsheet and email software

o Assistant Director of Nursing Requirements:

6.1.A bachelor's or associate's degree in nursing.
6.2.A Registered nursing license in country of origin.
6.3.Passed the Saudi council health specialist examination for nurses.
6.4.Current Saudi council license.

7. Professional experience :
7.1.5-years of experience working as a Registered Nurse (RN).
7.2.In addition experience working as a Nurse Supervisor for 3-5
years.

8 Specialized knowledge (desirable)

8.1.Good critical thinking, communication, and leadership skills.
8.2.Good planning and problem-solving skills.
8.3.Knowledge of computers and healthcare software.
8.4.The ability to work under stressful conditions.
