RLC circuit consists of three electrical components, a resistor (R), an
inductor (L), and a capacitor (C), which are connected in series or parallel
with each other. The circuit's name is derived from the letters used to
describe the components. The order or arrangement of the RLC circuit
components can vary.

In this case, the circuit functions as a harmonic oscillator, which resonates

similarly to an LC circuit. When a resistor is introduced, this oscillation is
dampened. The circuit is characterized by its impedance and quality factor,
which determines the damping; Under damped, Over damped, or Critically
damped.

Types of RLC Circuits

Resistor (R), Inductor (L), and Capacitor (C) are the passive elements. We
can connect these passive elements in several ways. For the time being,
let us consider the basic connections. These are series connections and
parallel connections.

An analog power meter is a device that features a
printed display to indicate any electrical parameter.
An example could be the energy consumed by a typical
business, or electrical device. Also called an
electromechanical meter, these offer a simple to read
display.

You've probably stared at the spinning numbers on a

power meter and wondered, "What does an electric
meter do, and how does it calculate my energy
consumption?" The disc in an analog meter simply
spins the multiple measurement dials as you pull
kilowatt-hours (kWh) of electricity from the grid,
resulting in a new ...

In electronics and electrical engineering, a fuse is an
electrical safety device that operates to provide overcurrent
protection of an electrical circuit. Its essential component is a
metal wire or strip that melts when too much current flows
through it, thereby stopping or interrupting the current.

An electrical fuse is a safety device that operates to

provide protection against the overflow of current in an
electrical circuit. An important component of an electrical fuse
is a metal wire or strip that melts when excess current flows
through it.

Fuses can be classified as “One Time Only Fuse”,

“Resettable Fuse”, “Current limiting and non – current limiting
fuses” based on the usage for different applications.

A double pole double throw switch is connected to two
different circuits, each input can be connected to either of the
outputs with six terminals in total, the two inputs and 4
outputs. These types of switches have 3 states; open (off),
circuit 1 closed and circuit 2 closed. There are 4 contacts in
total.
A double pole switch has two connections to 2 separate
circuits. They are essentially 2 switches in one. The
connections can be staggered or connect simultaneously.
hat does 2-pole mean? 2-pole means that the device plug
is not earthed and it normally has two pins that transmit
electricity. Originally, all electrical devices were fitted with 2-
pole plugs, which means that the devices were not earthed and
that all mains sockets were constructed for 2-pole plugs.

Single pole MCBs are used where the neutral of all
individualloads are connected together and the single pole
MCB is connected with the phase wire. Although single-
phase MCBs have limited applications, but they used some
small and important applications.

SP (Single Pole) MCB: In Single Pole MCCB, switching &

protection is affected in only one phase. Application: Single
Phase Supply to break the Phase only. DP (Double Pole) MCB:
In Two Pole MCCB, switching & protection is affected in phases
and the neutral.

These are used for a number of appliances such as general

lighting outlets, vacuums, fans, power tools, curling irons,
blow dryers, outdoor lighting, TVs, radios, computers, DVD
players, clocks cellphone chargers and air compressors to
name a few.

An ammeter (abbreviation of Ampere meter) is an
instrumentused to measure the current in a circuit. Electric
currents aremeasured in amperes (A), named from the
French physicist André-Marie Ampère. For direct
measurement, the ammeter is connected in series with the
circuit in which the current is to be measured.

Ammeter is a device used to measure either alternating or

direct current. We know that ampere is the unit of current.
Since this device measures the value in amperes, it's known as
ammeter.

Measurement-based ammeters are of two types, such:

 AC ammeter - The instrument for measuring the alternating
current (AC) flowing through whatever component of such an
electric circuit.
 DC ammeter - It is a device that was used to monitor the
amount of DC electricity passing in what seems like a circuit.

A voltmeter is a device that measures voltages of direct
current or alternating current on a scale commonly in volts,
millivolts, or kilovolts. Many voltmeters are digital that give
readings as numerical displays.

voltmeter, instrument that measures voltages of either

direct or alternating electric current on a scale usually
graduated in volts, millivolts (0.001 volt), or kilovolts (1,000
volts). Many voltmeters are digital, giving readings as
numerical displays.

The instrument we use to determine the potential electric

difference between two points in an electric circuit is called a
voltmeter. The types of voltmeters are: Analogue Voltmeter,
digital voltmeter and an amplified voltmeter.

A switchboard is a component of an electrical distribution
system which divides an electrical power feed into branch
circuits while providing a protective circuit breaker or fuse for
each circuit in a common enclosure.

Electrical power systems work as power is sent from the

utility provider which then in line moves through an
electric switchboard. That switchboards then relays the
electricity throughout a number of circuits. The power is then
moved to feeders and then distributed to locations throughout
the reach of the power grid.

A safety switch is a device that quickly switches off the

electricity supply if an electrical fault is detected, to
minimise the risk of electricity-related fires, electric shock, injury
and death.

Pipe earthing uses 38mm diametre and 2 metres length
pipe vertically embedded in the ground to work as earth
electrodes. In plate earthing, an earthing plate made of
copper or G.I. is buried into the ground at a depth more than
3 metres from the ground level.
Plate earthing: It is used for larger stations and
transmission lines, where the fault current, likely to be
high. Pipe earthing: It is used for ordinary soil or dry and rocky
soil. The size of the pipe depends upon the current to be
carried and the type of the soil.
The pipe earthing is better than another type of earthing,
because it can earth more leakage current, and the
possibility of braking in the earth wire is minimum. Pipe
Earthing: In this method the galvanized steel and perforated
pipe of approved length and diameter in place upright in a
permanently wet soil.
